Spinx sat hunched over a pile of dead fish he'd caught earlier. The large Nightfury was in the dense forest surround the village of Berk; he had chosen this spot because it was quite isolated from the village and he had no intentions of running into a human right about now.

Soon, Spinx lost his appetite for the seafood and spat out the half-eaten fish he had crushed between his teeth. The blue Nightfury stood up and backed away from his catch; his god eye scanned the forest around him, searching for any enemies. Seeing none, Spinx spread his wings and took off toward the southern half of the forest.

Spinx head faint sounds, almost as if someone was talking. He landed in a dense cluster of trees and, with ears flattened against his head, he crept forward toward a clearing where the sounds were coming from. The dragon's eye went wide at what he saw: a human speaking to a dragon. Spinx realized that the dragon was actually a black Nightfury and his heart almost stopped.

'What his this blasphemy?!' Spinx shouted in his mind and he felt his lip curl up in a snarl at the same time. 'Nightfury and humans are not supposed to be FRIENDS!'
Without hesitating, the large dragon leapt from his cover and bounded over to the pair; he had his eye set on the small human.

The tree snapped and the pure moment of the other Nightfury's blow sent Spinx smashing into more trees and deeper into the forest. He finally landed on the ground with a heavy thud, but quickly recovered and flew back over to the two, tackling the black Nightfury as he did so.

The blow managed to knock the wind out of Spinx, but he wasn't going down that easily. He flew to his feet again, a few drops of blood dripping from his mouth, and proceeded to lift himself up into the air before dive bombing onto his attacker. He pinned the Nightfury under his heavy paws and prepared to deliver the final blow when he realized that the other was a female.
