~ In Denver, Colorado there is a place. An auction to acquire 'pieces of the wild', meaning the wild untamed horses that once roamed free. After a lucky bidder accidently buys the whole herd he must now round up all the help he can get to try and get these horses tamed and ready for competitions before the season is over. Growing deeper in debt now than ever. Can he bring his salary up, with all these unwanted horses? ~

Personality: Ryan is a very sweet boy with a very loving personality, he loves animals and he really loves horses. Ryan had been hospitalized a few months ago and he has a little trouble with his shoulder. He had gotten in a car accident. Ryan is going to make a full recovery soon but too much pulling and stress could make his arm worse. Ryan is very gentle by nature and he just adores being with people. He helps when he can and tries not to be a burden on anyone. Ryan enjoys doing things on his own but knows that when he needs help, he should ask someone.

When Erika was younger she loved to play jokes, but not anymore for some reason. Erika loves to be outside in the sun and she goes down to the beach once in a while.

As the screaming of an alarm clock yanked Ryan out of his dreams, he felt this heavy pressure on his back and legs. "Diesel, Bear, get off me." He said, turning over onto his side. Diesel and Bear, his two huge rotties just licked him, waiting for him to get up out of bed. When five minutes went by, Diesel and Bear jumped off the bed and tried to get their master up. Gripping one end of the blanket, Diesel and Bear got into a strong tug-of-war with Ryan, them winning of course.

"Okay, okay! I'll get up geez." He said, throwing his legs over one end of the bed and sitting up. His shoulder ached some from hard work yesterday but he didn't mind it. Ryan dug into a dresser and pulled out a pair of faded jeans, socks, and a simple t-shirt. Diesel and Bear barked, running circles in front of him. "I'm up now. C'mon lets get outside and get to the horses." He said, exciting the dogs even more. As Ryan and his dogs made their way outside, Ryan noticed some had already gotten a head start. Oh well.

Walking up to the barn, Ryan brushed Titanic off really good and then tacked him up in western tack. Pulling himself onto Titanic, Ryan was helped by Titanic himself. The horse knew he'd been hurt and could feel some of his stress and pain. Animals knew. Ryan kicked the sides of Titanic, only giving him that name because of his massive size compared to the other barrel racing horses. Now, Titanic wasn't the biggest horse in the world but he was bigger than all his opponents in the barrel racing category.

Diesel and Bear jogged to keep up with Titanic, only to be snorted at by the big gelding. The two rotties bolted, barking and playing as usual. Ryan kicked Titanic's sides once more, "C'mon boy. Let's just ride around a bit before we go train." He said, stroking the beautiful horse's neck. He truly loved Titanic, with all his heart. Titanic was like the son he never had.

Erika hugged her parents. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll be fine!" Her mother smiled and kissed Erika on the cheek. "Okay, honey," she said, soothingly. Erika waved and hugged her parents good-bye before setting off for the train. Erika stepped into her car, buckled herself and drove away to the train station. At every light, Erika would text her friend Julie before driving through the green light. Finally, she arrived at the train station. Erika looked down at her watch. "Huh," she said to herself. The train was a few minutes late. Erika decided to sit and wait on a bench before it arrived.

As Ryan and Titanic galloped to the heavily guarded pasture he looked at the wild horses, counting them and checking them off of a list that was attached to a clipboard. He sighed. These horses are going to cost me thousands, I have to do something. He thought, noticing how they kept stamping down the fresh grass and how they were try and lay down in the small pond in the pasture. Mud and dirt was falling into the water, making it merky looking. Ryan grabbed a rope off a nail and slipped on some gloves. He decided that he'd take the lead stallion, a male he named Freedom, then everyone else should follow with ease.

Soon, the train (a few minutes late) arrived. Phew! Erika breathed a deep sigh of relief. At least the train came with no accidents. Stepping into the train, Erika waited for it to start up. Soon, the train was on its way. After about an hour, the train stopped where Erika needed to be. All she had to do now was walk. After about 10 minutes she arrived at the ranch where the auction was going to be held. It was a lovely looking place! Quickening her pace, she ran to the pasture.

Ryan didn't hear Erika come onto the ranch and he didn't notice her. Ryan made a lasso with the sturdy rope, kicking Titanic hard on the sides. The big horses reared with pinned ears before charging into the huge herd of horses, circling one with quick and tight movements. Most of the herd scattered all except one. The lead stallion. Freedom reared up and snorted, glaring at the rider and his horse. Ryan threw the rope on his neck and pulled it tight, now tying it to the saddle so he wouldn't have to use his bad arm. Freedom whinnied and bucked angrily, snorted and charging Titanic, who was unphased by his lame attempts. When Ryan kicked Titanic the horse dug his hooves into the ground and began to drag Freedom out. Ryan was trying to be as gentle as possible.

Erika was startled slightly by the sudden noise, and turned to see what all the noise was about. Erika just watched with awe as Ryan, gently as possible, walked the lead stallion, so the herd could follow. She smiled. Someday, she was going to be just like that man, with those horses. She chuckled to herself. Yes, someday she would be excellent with horses.

Ryan gave the rope a light tug, Titanic pulling the horse along. I'll wait and take the herd by little groups. He said, whistling out. Running from inside of the barn Ryan's two older brothers came out to assist him, both on the backs of their horses.(I'll add them later). The boys wasted no time as their horses cleared the pasture gates and circled the mares and the few stallions left, separating them all so the whole herd wouldn't be coming out of the pasture all at once. Ryan hurried along to get Freedom out and shut the pasture gate before leading him into the stalls, putting him in the sturdiest ones all the way at the back, where all the wild horses went before being tamed.

Erika watched the boys leave into the barn. She sighed. Suddenly, a horse pranced up to her. It was a beautiful bay, with wavy black hair that flew with the wind. "Hi, girl," she said to the beautiful mare. "You're a pretty thing, aren't ya? Wait! I think I have an apple in here." Erika wiggled her hand in her purse for a second before taking out a nice shiny red apple. "Here you go." She gently pet the mare's head. "You're a sweet girl." After talking to the horse for a few minutes, Erika knew that she had found the horse she would be auctioning for.
