African Animals
Everyone should know that Simba is Swahili for lion but what about the others?
Leopard- Chui
Cheetah- Duma
African Wild dog- Mbwa mwitu
Black-backed Jackel- Bweha
Spotted Hyena- Fisi
Brown Hyena- Nyani
Lesser Bushbaby- Kombo
Vervet Monkey- Tumbili
Porcupine- Nungu
Giraffe- Twiga
African Elephant- Tembo
Hippo- Kiboko
White/black Rhino- Faru
Zebra- Punda milia
Warthog- Ngiri
Lion King Names
Simba- The name "Simba" means "Lion" in Swahili.
Nala- The name "Nala" means "gift" in swahili.
Mufasa- The name "Mufasa" means "King" in the Manazoto language.
Sarabi- The name "Sarabi" means "Mirage" in Swahili.
Scar- Means the same in all African Languages.
Timon- Aparently is a normal given name. But it relates to the word Timonee which means absentminded.
Pumbaa- Same with Pumbaa, however the swahili translation for bushpig is Khumba in Tsonga language. Which is much like the name Pumbaa.
Kiara- It is said that Kiara is a normal name but in some Bantu languages it means baldness.
Raifiki- The name "Rafiki" means "friend" in swahili.
Kovu- The name "Kovu" means "Scar" in swahili.

Kiara means "Little Black One" in Irish, I read it somewhere.

I have a pot-bellied pig named "Kula", which is Swahili for 'eat' (cuz that's what piggies do best  ) I got the name from one of the Lion King 6 New Adventures books (book #3 'Nala's Dare').
