Currently on Amazon.com, and since two days, all the Disney Afternoon DVDs are half price.
And the result is that their sales suddenly skyrocketed!!!

TaleSpin Volume 1 is currently #135 in Movies & TV (ALL movies and TV!) I've never seen it higher!

And #7 in Movies & TV > DVD > Kids & Family :)

Even more impressive, Ducktales Volume 1 is currently #1 in Movies & TV > DVD > Kids & Family!!! So it means it's selling better than ANY other animated film / series!!!

I'm really hoping Disney will notice this!

Wonder if it will get them to release other cartoon series from the 1990s on DVD. Aladdin the Animated series, perhaps. I mean, there is a market for these old shows, and people don't want to resort to things like itunes and netflix for a number of reasons. (Corrupt downloads, streaming not working well because of datacaps and slow connections, etc.)

Almost one week after, they are still breaking the charts!!!
Who could have thought doing just a 50% price cut could have such effect? I'm sure they've sold more Disney Afternoon DVDs this week than they have for the 4 previous years combined!!!

I have to disagree with that...I mean, none of the Disney Afternoon shows are available on digital download or streaming! They SHOULD be! That way, more people would have access to them!
People want everything as quickly as possible. Digital is an alternative, some people prefer DVD but more and more people use such sites as ITunes and Netflix.

I hope Gargoyles is doing good as well, so Slave Labor Graphics will look back into continuing the comics! *crosses fingers* Wonder why they aren't offering Season 2 volume 2, the one they just released....

Good for Talespin though! Finally they will realize their Afternoon shows are still relevant!

Hi there all. This is my first post to this forum. I've been a long-time fan of Talespin since the show first aired in 1990. In fact, Tailspin was my FIRST online fandom! Back in 1990/1991, I belonged to an email list for fans of Talespin (but that's a story for another time).

I had long forgotten about Talespin but the Amazon Disney Afternoon DVD sale brought me back. I picked up the first two DVDs for Talespin and watching those old episodes was so much fun. Talespin was really such a great show!

Adding to the excitement was finding out about Talespin Volume 3 that was released to the Disney Movie Club. The only thing that could make this better would be a movie release of the entire pilot movie "Plunder and Lightning," but still it's great to have all the episodes "in print" once again!

(I'll make a post about Talespin Volume 3 over on the Volume 3 thread here.)

Welcome! It's great to see old fans coming back!
You should check the site, there are many articles, answers from Jymn Magon (show creator), comics and even a fan game currently under work! /talespin ... &nump=5693

Thanks Steet! It's good to have fans like you who "keep the dream alive." It's great that you've built this forum and have tried to keep up fan enthusiasm for Tailspin. How long have you been interested in Talespin?

I've been reading past forum posts and looking at the various fan art. The SDComicCon Disney Afternoon panel was interesting, but it was a shame they ran out of time and weren't able to talk about Talespin. I'm glad that Jymm Magon is still around and still interested in discussing the show. I remember friends telling me (15-20 years ago) that they'd talk to Jymm at conventions and he was always happy to talk about Talespin.

Although I doubt that Disney will even want to create more comics or animation featuring Tailspin (the show is probably too violent now, plus there's that legal problem regarding the character of Louie, Jungle Book, and the Louis Prima Estate), it's still nice to have all the episodes available again for old and new fans of Tailspin! :)

TaleSpin may be a little more "mature" than other Disney Afternoon shows, I don't think it can be rated as "too violent". (except from one or two episodes maybe) I think the problems with Disney not doing much with these shows are totally different reasons. (but I won't expand on that now)

Also, I think I've heard the Louie legal problem was solved, besides they wouldn't have been able to release the DVDs in the first place if it wasn't.

I don't mind it if they are available through those places, but I don't think they should be the only ways to get the content. For some people, those things are not convenient. It's why I support the DVD option.

Somehow I'm not surprised old classics are popular. I know kids today who like them better then the new stuff in part as it's more serous and dramatic.

Speaking of dramatic would you use that term for these shows, at least in part as they dealt with some deep stuff.

The newer animated shows these days are so watered-down and, dare I say it, politically-correct. There's still a few shows with an edge, like the new Korra series (the Last Airbender sequel), but Korra is no Jonny Quest (the late 1969s version).

I'm still surprised that they let Tintin even hold a gun in the 2011 Tintin 3D movie. :)

He did occasionally in some scenes from the animated series. and possibly in the books.

As for Disney, i dunno how the sales are doing for the UK. So far, we had only two sets released this year, which are taken from Germany's release, but with a few episodes pulled out. There is also a 3rd set released in Germany, going up to "Bullethead Baloo", but we've yet to hear about it coming in the UK.
