...Argh, these three were the worst in the film, and after just rewatching the movie, I wondered to myself, "Why are they even in this movie?"
What is up with the geese? They were a little helpful, but they seemed more waste of animation in the long haul.

I vote comic relief. They teased O'Malley and it was funny XD but other than that, I'm not so sure.

Roi Doberwolf wrote: A bit useless, maybe. But like Paws said, they were comic relief. And I think they helped show Thomas's personality as well. He was annoyed by the drunk, but he's was patient with them. I suppose so... Thomas was more annoyed by the gals, and who wouldn't be in that situation? Not to mention the two females [Abigail and Amelia] thought that Thomas and Duchess were an item... Now, Uncle Waldo... he was a scene stealing drunk, that's all. Heheh, and all of this was in a kid's movie nonetheless! ...You know, maybe it was funny ha-ha, but the dogs were funnier. That's a whole another topic... - Juuchan17

...Now that I think about it, the only useful thing they did was lead the cats to Paris. But that was it.
And then I ran into some research about their character [while doing some research for an article I wrote on site] and learned that they were based on a couple of characters from the TV series, play and movie versions of "The Odd Couple", and happened to be voiced by the same two actresses that played them on screen! Just a little bit of trivia~

You're not alone, I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw this movie. These three were pretty much a one-hit wonder. Stuck around for a couple of scenes, and that was it. I think the two geese, Amelia and Abigail, had more reason to be in this film than Uncle Waldo. The two girls led the cats to Paris, and he was just a drunk with absolutely no point or reason to be in the movie.

Disney put them in the film probably to keep it alive.(Althought it didn't do such a good job for some of you) I think they weren't 'Pointless', but at the same time I didn't think 'They really needed them' either. So, I don't know.

Honestly, the only thing they did was take the cats to Paris and that was it.But I personally like Uncle Waldo myself mainly cuz I love drunk animals in animated movies.
