If you haven't watched the movie do not read for this will contain spoilers!!
Alright so I've seen a lot of negative comments for the new movie the lion guard and aside from the animation not being that great I do t agree at all. I just finished watching it and it's great, I feel like it ties together so many loose ends. The plot is amazing and the role of lion guard just makes so much sense especially where scar is concerned. I would have liked kion to look a tad more like kopa but what are you gonna do.
Now for my theories
Theory number 1 kion=kopa
It just makes so much sense now. I saw a lot of comment complaint how kopa wasn't in the movie,many kopa is the forgotten child but if you really look at lions design, aside from the hair color, he looks like kopa. his build, his hair tuft even his personality of how he's really brave or how the lion guard describes him as "fierce". Also if you look at the cub at the end of lion king one his color fur matches kions almost exactly. Now the only thing that doesn't support my theory is that kopa is shown at the end of number one but kion is younger than kiara, although just how scar is younger than mufasa I think they are from the same litter,which only makes sense because there isn't much of a size difference.The only explanation I have is just that due to kion being a male they showed him first. I feel like that would make sense since lion society is very male based.
Theory number 2 the reason kion isn't in the second movie
This theory has no evidence but I just feel like kion would have been too busy with his guard duty, and maybe he was helping out more than just the pride lands trying to protect the circle of life. That's all I got, but he seems more special than other lion guards which leads me to believe that he would travel away to help out the rest of the community.
Theory number three the reason simba and kiara are so different
In this move kiara takes being the queen very seriously and simba isn't an over protective nut job. The reason I think this changes in number 2 is that after kion begins to mature and take his job seriously kiara begins to question her part, and after meeting Kovu and not being aloud to have friends and explore her feelings this sense of confusion is only amplified. And after simba looses his son to the lion guard he worries about losing his heir to the throne.
Those are my theories for now until the show comes out. But I truly believe kion is a representative of kopa. And it makes more sense that him and kiara are litter mates for the vitani and kopa ship to sail. Also I like how kiaras color is more natural and nana looks more like her first movie coloring.
