I couldn't find a thread for deleted scenes here, so I chose to make one. I'll post the one I like best, as I don't have the time to post them all right now.

Scar begins to brutally overpowers Simba, but accidentaly reveals he killed Mufasa, allowing Simba to regain the upperhand and Scar nearly falls off the side of Pride Rock. He begs Simba to save his life, Simba relenting and trying. However, Scar betrays Simba and hurls Simba off Pride Rock. However, as Scar begins laughing hysterically at his victory, the flames surrounding Pride Rock engulf it, burning Scar to death.

Simba survives his fall by landing in a tree and manages to escape the flames, surviving and meeting up with Nala as rains put out the flames.

I find this ending intresting, but I like the final one better. However, the thing I find best about this ending is Scar's desire to betray Simba after he tries to save him actually saves Simba's life and dooms his own. So in a way, this ending causes Scar's death to be far more ironic.

Reason I think it was cut? Well for one, it's much more difficult to confirm that Scar was killed, as in the final ending its rather clear he was eaten by the Hyenas. In this one, he just vanishes in the flames and there's still the possibility he escaped. Also, it doesn't allow Simba to be the one to avenge Mufasa, a major plot point.

So, what do you think?

i dont remember seeing it before and i have 2 copies of it. i might have to what it again though to confirm...

But back to the point. i find this ending uninteresting the final one that they used i still like better.

This is very weird. We have Scar and Simba fight and it looks like scar kills Simba, but then we have this scene with Simba comforting Sarabi. It's very confusing....

If you look close, you see he fell into a tree and jumpped down. He lived.

Zazu reports things to Mufasa and Simba, only to be used as 'pouncing practice' for Simba. Notable as its in the Broadway version and was eventually animated for the 2002 Imax release.

Scar introduces his 'execuitive staff' to the Lionesses after taking power. He and the Hyenas do this by singing a reprise of his Be Prepared song from earlier, during which the Hyenas intemidate and drive the Lionesses off Pride Rock.

I find this one intresting as its more of a villain song for the Hyenas than Scar, since its more about them.

A cut verse for Hakuna Matata for Timon. Like Pumba's, he explains his backstory, which was working in the colony until he realized it wasn't for him. Leads into Pumba's verse.

Simba chooses to return to Pride Rock and face Scar. Nala, worried for his life, shows her concern but Simba decides to go. Timon tries to talk him out of it or stay behind, but is convinced by Pumba.

i knew about morning report but i wish the animated the be prepared reprise instead for the imax re release and the special edition dvd.

Didn't care for the morning report to be honest.

For the first 30 seconds I thought it was a game on the NES.

i loved the alternate ending scene , but i like the final scene better.

Personally, I'm glad that they didn't use their original idea for the ending. I think Scar getting killed by his hyena henchmen was instant karma for him. He wanted to save his own hide, so he blamed the ones who stuck by him through-and-through. And it was much more powerful too than just having Scar throw Simba off the cliff and burning to death. Though the one thing I did like about that ending was how it showed how crazy Scar became in the end.

Morning report was... meh, I thought it was unnecessary for the film.

And Simba's return to the pride, originally, was just... I don't get it. Nala wanted Simba to come back and win back the pridelands, but there she didn't understand why he wanted to leave ('oh you know this place is beautiful. So what if we're all going to heck, at least you're doing fine 8D'). And how Simba got over all that's happened really quickly... No I like the final scene that made it into the movie, because of how much it shows how traumatized Simba was of his father's death and how much coaxing there had to be in order to finally convince Simba to return.

Personally, I like the alternate ending better. It makes more sense because Simba has no fighting experience at that point and Scar is not yet old enough to be weak. Scar's fiery demise would be more interesting, too, but I think that they wanted Scar to get what was coming to him, and be bested by the "good guy." I can see why they changed it, but I would have liked to see the other ending...
