This is more of a suggestion for a site addition that would be GREAT across all Sources: A Trivia Game!

I'm going to use Balto Source as an example. The trivia game would be an automated game, controlled by a computer program (easy enough to program), where the computer asks questions and gives users 1 minute to answer - or whenever someone answers correctly. The questions could range anywhere from the movies (What is the name of Balto's mother?) to the true story (What was the year the Balto statue in New York was unveiled?) to behind-the-scenes (What was the animation company responsible for for the first Balto film?), and the list can go on and on. The only catch is the trivia questions MUST NOT contain fan characters (What is a common name used for Balto's unnamed daughter?). The questions must be verified by official sources.

An alternative to this is a trivia game that would be formatted similar to the Animation Source Awards, and as such can easily be used if this year's awards are canceled. The questions would be asked on the forums, under the correct section for each film, and members would have to PM the person or persons in charge with their answers. Whoever ends up with the most answers wins; if multiple people answer every single question correctly, a second round would be called for for each film/series.

I got this idea from an Eragon fansite that had this feature a long time ago. It was IMMENSELY popular, and was only lost when the site upgraded to a server that would not support the computer program. The way they worked it is very similar to the first scenario I put forth; the trivia game literally lasted forever, and people were free to come in whenever they wanted and answer questions to rack up points. There were never awards given, just bragging rights.

But anyway, what does everyone think of this idea?

I think a forum-based trivia would be an excellent idea.
The automated one might be a bit difficult to those who are slow with typing (although I doubt many people would play outside of a computer or atablet/smartphone).

By the way, assuming that the forum-based trivia is preferred, do you think a rule of one answer per user per question would be a good idea? Just to prevent repeat answering of the same question by the same user.

Yes, special rules would be set up for it as it IS a game. Plus, to avoid any sort of cheating, the answers can ONLY be sent in through PM, not forum post; those would be reserved for people who have any addition questions about how the game works, or to update on the leaderboards.

People could then answer once per question, but they can answer any number of questions they choose, even across other Sources. And again, these are all suggestions; anything more or less can be suggested and considered.

It sounds fun, I like trivias.
The whole conception sounds a but overwhelming if I had to take care of it myself but I hope you can handle it well and make something good xD
Though I would prefer automatic quiz one, because one minute to answer does not give you posibilities to check for answers on internet.

I'm not completely against the idea of adding a trivia game, but I don't think it needs to be anything fancy or turned into an event. I think a better idea would be to have a setup kind of like how the polls work and have the trivia questions displayed on the menu bar.

It does sound like a good idea. But maybe an automated quiz would work better, or maybe something to test a person's knowledge.
