I've been wondering after watching the second movie what did Charlie do? So in the beginning when the badges are being given out to the angels and Carface is given one then when Annabelle is leaving she says "I only hope the our other angles, who have yet to distinguish themselves. Will soon follow your shining example." But what did Charlie do to not get one in the first place? He got one after he returned Gabriel's horn even after everything he did, but was never given one for sacrificeing himself for Ann-Marrie.

Sadly Annabelle suffered from a concussion shortly after the end of the first movie by banging her head against the gates of Heaven, causing her both a personality change and forgetting about her closeness and support she had for Charlie.

In all honesty though, Charlie was going straight to hell for not staying in Heaven in the first film, Annabelle most likely wasn't joking when she said 'you can never come back' as in she's seen other's trick their way out of heaven and not redeem themselves, and go to hell in the end for it. With Charlie, I think going to Heaven and sacrificing himself for the girl he loved was a medal all of it's own, and he seems well liked in Heaven, and sometimes has even gained Annabelle's affection. Seeing as the second film takes place years later, one would presume Charlie caused some trouble up there.

Interesting question. I think though you shouldn't ask what did Charlie do, but what did Charlie NOT do. It would seem good deeds give you prizes, and it would seem Charlie isn't one for going above and beyond. You WOULD think that saving Anne-Marie would give him some points, but I guess that was his entry fee into heaven and therefore not counted. (The long way of saying the writers weren't using their heads.)

I think Charlie would have gotten one, if he had not bailed on Heaven in the first place maybe? It might just be a plot error the writer missed.

I never really thought that the writers had made a mistake or weren't thinking. Makes sense. Thanks guys.

a better question wouldve been HOW did carface get one? at the end of the first, he presumably went back to get revenge on the gator. and shouldve gone to hell for that and leaving heaven. and yet he gets a medal? writers never saw the first movie thats it.

Carface got one by being a very good angel around all the heavenly dogs, but when they were not around he was making plans that Annabelle didn't know about so therefore the angels though he has changed to they gave Carface the pin in that honor of his changed behaviour or so they though.
