I was working on designs for some new equines, and redoing some old designs when a thought occurred to me... What if Spirit had been a mare?
Would you have still gone to see it? Let's pretend in this fake "scenario" that the story was the same Except that Spirit is Only friends with Rain and not a couple like the regular movie. It changes a lot of things. Number one, it would be interesting seeing a mare take the position of the lead stallion and fight off cougars. Number two, Spirit would have connected with Rain a little easier, but only as friends. Basically the ideas are endless... What do you guys think?

I think it would have been interesting to see a female as an independent figure. I saw this movie in theaters when I was little and in love with horses, so I'm sure I would have seen it either way. Awesome thought! Although now, maybe the whole 'interacting with girl groups' would have thrown me off cause I'm stereotypical about those things sometimes. Haha.

Of course I would still have gone to see it. :3 I think it wouldn't really change Spirit's personality at all besides the love factor thing. Spirit would still be a wild stallion in my opinion.

That idea is pretty neat! I'd still go see it ( even though I was younger when it first came out). I think it would be pretty cool to have a mare take on a role as a stallion ( or like one...). To fight off all the wild life and stuff, and maybe to have HER fight off male horses.
They could add some neat stuff too, like friendship stuff lol
especially since most girls like horses too, they could add alot of things in the movie also.

If Spirit was a mare, Rain would have had to be a stallion because we know no one dies alone.

I would really enjoy the movie a lot more if Spirit had been a mare. You don't see very many main female roles in this type of animation, and if there was a lead female, a male would step in at one point and steal the lead role. A lot of the storyline would change in Spirit if it had switched genders in the characters we all know and love.
