I couldn't agree more. I too agree. It's good to see people who aren't afraid of liking the Balto film. Or ashamed or embarrassed. XD It pretty much means they have the guts.

Well, it's been a real long time since I've posted here, I'm seeing lots of new faces. This topic is a perfect expamle of me, It has been almost three years since I've logged in to my account, my interest has faded to a degree, but is in no way gone. I personally feel I'll always be a fan, maybe not like when I was a kid, but Balto will always hold a place in my memory. It is still the only animated movie from my childhood that I still enjoy watching. I'm going to be 21 in a month, I guess that means I am an adult hahaha, but if my like for the Balto has not left by now, I really don't think it ever will.

I started coming here in June last year crazy about Balto but now my meter has gone down immensely but i still support and love Balto. Just not as much as before. I hope that i never completely lose my interest in him. It's almost becoming more and more like that each day.

That doesn't mean I don't like Balto, I am still a fan, just not this, "OMG! Balto!!!!!" The only time I see that happening is if I happen to find something Balto at a rummage sale or something xD The same is happening to you.

The only time I see that happening is if I happen to find something Balto at a rummage sale or something xD The same is happening to you. I think that's a pretty good way of defining it. Because the delineations seem to fall this way: - Crazy, obsessed young fan: "OMG! Balto iz mai life!!!1!!1!!" This fan is a bit of a cornball...a little extreme (maybe a LOT extreme), very immature, quite n00bish even when having been in the fan community for some time;
- Established fan: Loves the movie and the characters, does lots of fan creations (art, fiction, etc.), this fan is a pretty level-headed, normal person generally-speaking (fan community drama aside);
- Relaxed fan: Looks back on the movie fondly, but in a somewhat detached, "I've moved a bit beyond it now...I mean, I still like it and all, but just not like I used to when I first saw it as a kid" way;
- Lapsed fan: Has lost interest in the movie, and moved on to other interests, still checks in on the fandom from time to time because something in his or her psyche, perhaps on a subconscious level, keeps this person minutely interested;
- Former fan with issues: This is someone who, at one time, loved the Balto movie(s), but has grown sick to death of the peccadillos and peculiarities of the fan community. Tends to believe he or she is socially above the fan community and more mature (regardless of the age and education level of other fans). Has a habit of talking rather dismissively and conceitedly about the fan community and individual members therein; may harbor some inexplicable reluctance to admit to being a former fan, or of ever having associated with the community of fans.
Is this list tongue-in-cheek? Partly. And, as you ALL know (but may be afraid to admit or acknowledge), partly NOT.

That sums it up pretty nicely, JC. Personally, I place myself somewhere between relaxed and established.

So like... * Baltoboo * Balto fan * Lightswitch * Troll Lawl, I don't mean to mock of course, but that's about how I see fans these days. I'm somewhere between 'fan and lightswitch' myself.
