Okay, so just as the title asks: Why you you ship certain cannon characters together who aren't actually in a "relationship" with the character they are being shipped with?

For example I ship:

JennaxSteele: YES, I know this will never happen, but personally I think they had something in the past, before the whole Balto getting with Jenna thing. NO I do not have solid evidence to support this, but I like to do a thing called looking at context clues. Like for example: the scene where Jenna was with Balto in the boiler room, and Steele barges in, yes, that could have been her using her "female charm" to get herself and Balto out of a not so good situation, but personally I think she new how to push the "correct buttons" on Steele.

Yes I will admit, I like them because they would make gorgeous babies, but that is not all to a couple, and that isn't the sole reason. I like the idea of these two (at least in the past) having a relationship, and something causing them to split, and Jenna moving on for Balto, to me it would make for an interesting fanfiction, and a possible "rewrite" to the second/third movies.

AleuxYak: Okay, both of these have been done before but I still like them. This one I like because out of the the 5 wolves in Wolf Quest that were actually given a "purpose or rather more dialogue to say," I find Yak to be less annoying I guess you could say, plus I like the fact that he appears to be older than Aleu and he could offer her some guidance without it being to overly creepy for children/parents if say she was put with Nava who was old enough to be her grandfather.

Also, I know they would look awkward together now, but think about if someone redesigned them? And made the "pretty?" And since Aleu is leading the pack, out of Yak, Sumac, and Nuk, I personally would find Yak more "able" to aid her in leading the pack; Nuk thinks about his stomach too much to focus on real priorities, and Sumac is too....derpy to really make valuable decisions.

Please when you reply to this, I ask that you post "decent" reasons why you ship "couples." Not just "Oh they look good together" or "they make cute babies" or "Cat did it, so now I will"

SteelexJenna = Stenna: Well I pretty much agree with your points there, but *I* also have something to add. I think they had previous relations, which would explain why Jenna was so quick to use "intimacy" as a means of trickery. It wouldn't be the first choice of action from someone who was intensely disgusted with him after all.

DustyxKirby = Dirby: Not one of my most-popular ships, but I do ship it. They didn't have any exchanges in dialogue, nor were they seen interacting with each other one on one. I personally just like their personalities, and think they would play off each other very well, if they even bothered to show it in the movie. Sometimes I wonder how the four of them were friends at all when you can barely get a grasp of how one character acts around another. But I say that if people think that Kodi is too job-oriented for Dusty (which he is) and Ralph is too dorky for Dusty (which she never seemed to mind) them Kirby would be somewhere in the middle, leaning more toward goofy but still being in good mindset and determined.

YakxAleu = Yaleu: Well I personally like a "pretty" girl going for a derpy-esque character. But why else do I like them? They didn't interact, really. The most of a dialogue exchange they had was "Sorry, but you aren't going no where!" - "That's 'anywhere', fleabag!" And Yak's dialogue was directed toward both Balto and Aleu, if not just Balto himself (since Balto was the one instigating leaving). And the only other interaction they had was at the end, when Aleu was assisted by both Nuk AND Yak. So why not Nuk? Well, mainly because of this scene.

Why are ALL of them smiling? This is meant to be an intense fight scene, not a playful romp. Could it be lazy animators? Or perhaps a part from a deleted scene that was inserted into a fight scene? I see it as them expressing an interest in one another without letting others on. Besides, Aleu looks pretty good next to a black wolf.
