...wow... very deep topic. my views, is that suicide IS worse than murder. it's a terrifying state of mind that i've had the not-so-pleasant pleasure of wittnessing. but it's a touchy subject i think. i'm still glad they kept it out. most times you see clips cut out of shows and what-not that you think should've or could've stayed in. this is one of those rare-ities that i ACTUALLY agree with the deleted scenes. it IS a kid's movie (origionally anyway, face it, how many of us here are close to adults ), so it should stay as G to PG rated as possible. Suicide would just make it more complicated, at least for the supposed audience. Teal Lioness wrote: SunAndMoon IchiRuki wrote: Do you have an account on YouTube? Maybe you could post that scene? It sounds interesting. Suicide is much darker than murder because you chose to die whereas with murder you don't have a choice as to who ends your life. *shudders* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoctlRyGdf8Nah, I don't have a Youtube account, but here is the video anyway. (Zira's voice is going to make you shudder. LOL!) This is where I first saw it. Enjoy! Here's a link to all of the Deleted Scenes if your interested. Its really nice, and several of the scenes I think would have done well with the movie. I guess they cut them out for time purposes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc0zMMil ... re=relatedI kind of see your point about how suicide is darker than murder. I like how you put it. i however wouldn't have minded seeing bit with Rafiki in the movie. but again, it's doesn't really matter. didn't make such a difference anyway...

Teal Lioness wrote: Yeah, now that I really think about it, I see what you mean. (And you made perfect sense, BTW.) It was a very creepy scene, and may not have been appropriate for young kids. But me, being 14, could handle it well. I just didn't think about the fact that 5 year olds watch this movie as well as teens.
But, the thing that I liked about it was that it showed that Zira was so loyal to Scar that she would never accept help from his rival's daughter. I just thought that that kind of deepened her character even more. That is creepy, but I agree that it added that much more into who exactly Zira was. No offense, but all of the deleted scenes should have been in the 2-Disc Special Edition release . . . as long as someone mentioned the obvious reasons why they weren't included. (Like the "Another Cub" scene - Vitani and Nuka tell their mother about Kiara's ceremony, Kovu is first introduced, and the whole "Kovu is Scar's son" plot is mentioned. Perhaps that's why it was deleted?) Still, that whole smile bit that Zira had when she eventually let go/fell . . . *shudders* In the final product, she did look scared as her claws slipped her further towards the rapids, but yeah. Suicide is baaaaaad. - Juuchan17

I haven't read the previous posts, so I don't know if what I'm about to say has already been said or not. Apologies.
In the original script, when Kiara asks Zira to hand her her paw, Zira smiles, says "No. Never!" and lets go, laughing on the way down. A smile is still visible in the final cut of the film.
Yes, it was considered too dark. But, honestly, it would have been better, wouldn't it?

homicide and suicide are different. personally , i don't have a problem with zira doing suicide . it's not as dark as scar murdering mufasa , but still Disney , you should of put that in the movie.

Suicide is a chosen act of murder on one self, so yes I'd also have to say it's less dark Alkan Wolf wrote: Murder is just suiside made out by a single individual. So in that case it's not that far cast from the horrors of murder, so i don't think it's darker than murder.

I remember years ago before anyone knew about the deleted scene, many people on here always caught that zira looked like she was smiling when she fell in the water. I never saw a smile but when I saw the scene I have to say they did a real good job removing it unlike deleted scenes from movies like the land before time
