he was abandoned at a young age because of his fur color his father had brown fur and his mother had blonde/yellow fur.he was an outcast that nobody wanted he was even bullied by his older brother valko but his sister yuna the youngest stuck up for him.after that he never saw his family again.he later gets taken in a den by a big fluffy old grey grizzly bear who cared for him like a son.ash goes to the salmon run 4 times a week to hang out with tug and his friends.he rarely sees his brother valko because of the hatred they both had in the past Koda and ash shared a brotherly bond with each other like kenai and Koda.kenai is busy looking after his cubs and Nita now so Koda doesn't get that much attention so ash hangs out with him.ash's father hated him because he was small and payed more attention his brother valko and this made a close bond with ash and his sister yuna.he goes to crowberry ridge with Koda and his sister.nita and kenai hate ash and this makes him fear that he is so different from another bear in the salmon run they even don't include him in any of the competitions.later on ash and the grizzly bear that is caring for him move to the salmon run to be closer to other bears.
