Personality: Sharp-tongued and witted, Espen, much like her uncle and most of her family, is one tough cookie. She won't take no for an answer and hates to lose. She doesn't like to be pampered or spoiled, even if the offerings are good. She's not a picky eater and will eat everything edible she can get her paws on. She won't share meals very often, so it's best to have an individual meal if bears plan to eat with her. At least her table manners are neat.

History: Espen was born into the Salmon Run to a mother bear who was chased down and hunted only days later. Her great uncle, igor, took it upon himself to raise little Espen to adulthood, or at least until she could defend herself.  She was feisty as a younger cub, always willing to take on fights with bears twice her size. 

When it came time to learn, fishing lessons didn't always go smooth because of Igor's lack of experience with training cubs. Cleaning up her sloppy tactics, and his as well, both benefitted when fishing didn't take as long as usual. Even during winter months, when fish was scarce.

Continuing on, Espen would be reluctant to share the fish they had caught together when other bears had failed to catch their own. She would usually make two piles from the fish her uncle and herself caught and ultimately save one of the piles for herself. She wasn't hoarding as long as she gave something in return, according to Igor.
