Below, divided into sections, are samples of conceptual art for the production of Despicable Me. For Despicable Me Source, we've decided to show as much production artwork as we could find, rather than just representative samples of each. Each section below presents the work of a different member of the production team, and their unique style. Also included is a hyperlink to their website, so that you can see other samples of their incredible work! All the artwork pictured below is the property of each respective artist, as well as Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. For each drawing, click on it to open up a larger version. You'll see early concepts of Gru (which artist Sergio Pablos refers to, in his art, as "Groo"), Vector, Dr. Nefario, Margo, Edith, Agnes, Kyle and the minions, as well as scenery and gadgets (and what appears to be an abandoned concept for a superhero named "Hindsight"). It is also possible to see, in some of Sergio Pablos' earliest cncept drawings, that the movie originally had another title under consideration ("Evil Me").

Sergio Pablos
While he was one of the executive producers of Despicable Me, as well as the story writer (which was later developed into the final screenplay by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio), Sergio Pablos also created some amazing conceptual art for the production, as seen below! It is very evident, in many of his drawings, that he was influenced by the legendary animation artist and director Chuck Jones, whose vast body of work include some of the original Looney Tunes shorts and televised movies, as well as the movies How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Yarrow Cheney
In addition to being the production designer for Despicable Me, Yarrow Cheney also lent his artistic skills to the creation of some conceptual art for the production. Yarrow's art is far more stylized, and seems to represent the final phases of pre-production concept art...or perhaps art that was created as the animation was being laid down, since it so closely resembles the final product. Eric Guillon
In addition to being the art director for Despicable Me, Eric Guillon also did some great work as a character designer, as seen below. You can visit his website here: http://ericguillon.blogspot.com/.
Carter Goodrich
A character designer for Despicable Me. You can visit his website here: http://cartergoodrich.com/#/carter.

Martin Trystram
Oddly, Martin is not listed in the crew on the Internet Movie Database page for Despicable Me. Clearly, however, he did several sketches for the production, as noted below (and which have the official production stamps on them). You can view his website here: http://trystram.blogspot.com.br/2007/02/films-danimation.html.
