Ginga Densetsu Weed is a manga by Yoshihiro Takahashi, sequel of his famous work Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. Released from 1999 to 2009, it had 60 volumes total, re-release in 22 volumes. 

Ginga Densetsu Weed contains five story arc, the first two were adopted in 2005 into 26 anime episodes by Studio Deen, changing most of the manga, cutting out many important and side characters, keeping only the main characters and general story.

After the Kaibutsu and Hougen Arc, the story goes on with the Monkey Arc. Jerome is alive and, together with Weed and the other dogs, they have to fight against an army of baboons led by the cruel Shogun. They are saved by a reddish Akita/Kishu by the name of Yukimura. He tortures and kills monkeys to get revenge on the death of his brother and the paralysis of his father. Weed and his group don't approve of this but they fight with Yukimura and his pack against the monkeys. Shogun is killed by other non violent monkeys but was able to fatally wound Yukimura, who dies right after it is revealed that he's Gin's son and Weed's brother.

In the Hokkaido Arc, Ou dogs are informed that Hakuro's pack in Hokkaido needs aid in fighting new enemies. Jerome travels to Hokkaido only to be captured by a group of russian German Sheperds, under the rule of Victor, that want to take over the land. He fools his guard dog, a female named Lydia and escapes, telling Gin what is going on. Jerome is captured again, Hakuro, Gin's old friend, leader of those lands, is killed by Victor and Ohu's army, arrived to defeat the russians, get trapped in a gorge. In the end, Victor is defeated, drown in the sea. Jerome and Lydia becomes a couple.

The last arc of the story is the Hybrid Arc, in which appears Weed and Yukimura's other brother: Joe. Still alive, he was rescued by a man and became a hunting dog. His goal is to kill all the hybrid bears because one of them killed his mate and three of the four puppies. Joe doesn't want to be with Weed or Gin, since he blames his father for abandoning their mother and them. Meanwhile, Weed saves a white Kishu named Koyuki, with whom he falls in love with. Weed and Joe defeat all the hybrid bears except one, it kills GB and falls in the river with Weed. The bear drowns but Weed survives. Joe accept to come to Ohu and Koyuki gives bith to her and Weed's pups: Orion, Bellatrix, Sirius and Rigel.
