It is the most expensive animated film ever made, costing $260 million dollars. It's also the second-most expensive film ever made period, after Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It's gotten an 88% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. And it has been called by many critics as Disney's best fairy tale since Beauty and the Beast.
That film, of course, is Tangled.
Tangled opened on November 24, 2010--the day before Thanksgiving. It was up against Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1 for the weekend box office, and ended up losing, though only by about $1 million. Its total gross from Wednesday through the following Sunday worldwide was $68,706,298
The next weekend, this past one, Tangled soared past Harry Potter to become the number-one film of the weekend, earning an estimated $21,500,000 in the US, bringing its domestic gross to $96,461,000. Its worldwide gross to date is $142,261,000.
Tangled is currently up for an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, and it is thought to be running against Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon. Other Academy Award nominations it may receive include Best Song, Best Score, and Best Sound Editing.

That would be $280 INCLUDING marketing. Not to mention, Tangled has
$260 NOT including marketing, which would bring it way high. And at
any rate, marketing isn't included in a movie's budget; it's handled
by the distributor, not the producers. (And Avatar's official budget
IS $237, according to James Cameron in several interviews.) Believe
me, I research these things before I post news articles. |

And you read that where ? Wikipedia ? Please... . Wikipedia's the
worst source ever. Box Office Mojo does not have the exact budget
number, but it is believed to have cost around $280 million plus
marketing.... |

I think tangled is just a one timer. Impressive animation, but the
story line lags a lot. I hate the fact that *spoiler alert!* When her
lover dies a tear brings him back to life. That's like saying if you
cry hard enough that you're mother is going to come back to life. Like
don bluth said. Any child at any age can child anyemotional blow you
give them as LONG as you make the story have a happy ending. So if her
lover did DIE, and if you threw in a happy ending, I think it would
have been a more interesting film. She also looks awful with a short
hair cut. xD Other then that this movie had nothing going for it. :/ I
think THAT'S why harry potter beat it. Well.... |
