Inside Out wins big at Annie Awards | Tweet |
Pixar’s Inside Out was the movie that brought the studio back to the spot light, and now stands as one of the most critically-loved animated features of the decade. It was no surprise that Pixar would get a lot of accolades for this film, but it became the big stand out at ASIFA-Hollywood’s annual Annie Awards where it won almost all the feature film categories.

Inside Out was this year's big winner at the Annie Awards.
Inside Out took home ten of the eleven feature film awards including Best Animated Feature. The only exceptions being Best Animated Feature-Independent for Boy & the World, and the Individual Achievement award for Animated Effects which was awarded to Pixar’s other 2015 film The Good Dinosaur. But in the grand scale of the ceremony, The Walt Disney Company ultimately ended up winning 18 of the 31 possible awards, and won 75% of the 24 categories nominated in. Five were awarded to Walt Disney Television Animation, and two for Disney-owned Industrial Light & Magic.
While it is great to see Disney do well, a single film/film studio dominating almost every possible award does make the voting process seem questionable. A similar controversy occurred back in 2009 when DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda won every feature film category, shunning out other acclaimed films like Bolt, Wall•E, and Waltz with Bashir. As a result, Disney temporarily withdrew from the Annies in 2010, which then led to ASIFA revising the voting system.
But whether or not this year’s results will spring controversy, it is still worth congratulating all the Annie winners of this year. A full list of this year’s winners can be viewed in this Cartoon Brew article.
