The Animation Source Awards's was founded by Steet back in 2007 when he launched the "Balto Source Awards" back in 2007/08. The concept of the Awards was to place the spotlight on "unnoticed", but talented individuals who had created excellent work, whether it be artwork, fanfictions or videos. And unlike the Oscars, these awards are not popularity contests between users; they are awards to celebrate the works of talented members who have contributed to the sites sections. We hope, that this year; the Animation Source Awards can keep to it's original goals of being a "talent competition" and that everyone who participates in the Awards nominates and votes fairly, and not just for their friends.
 

So, as many of you may have guessed; this year's Animation Source Awards will be much bigger then ever before. Unlike previous series, this series of the Animation Source Awards will be split into "activity" categories rather then site ones. For example; last year we had the Balto Source Awards; which was divided into activity categories. However, this year, we will have (for example) the Fanart Awards; this category will be divided into the Source sites.
 
Unlike previous series, this years Animation Source Awards be doing something completely different when it comes to announcing winners/nominees for the awards. Next year (click here to find out when exactly), the Animation Source Awards will be announcing the winners and nominees for Awards LIVE on Ustream, long before it would be announced on here or on Animation Source.
