Why?

Why, whenever someone makes a post opposing the way the way the site works (mainly a serious topic, like gay discussions or staff topics) the mods and the admin team lock it, even when there is no flaming going on, and could be discussed in a mature manner?

Is this because the staff here don't like being opposed? Or is this place corrupt?
