Baloo is present in every Jungle Book-related franchise, and is easily one of the most-recognized Disney characters of all time. He is known for his care-free attitude, as well as his usual recklessness.
While not a very smart bear, he is shown to look out for those he cares for, going as far as to risk his life when Mowgli was in danger. He also has an appetite for anything and everything. His favorite song is "Bare Necessities".

In the JB: aime series (1989-1990) Baloo taught Mowgli the law of the jungle (which was mentioned in the novel). Which in some episodes Mowgli just falls asleep during his lesson, gets bored.
Even one episode (7) when Baloo was warning Mowgli about a "cold fang" (snap trap) in the jungle-he tries to warn Mowgli that's it's dangerous-which Mowgli doesn't believe him, then Baloo gets into a temper and slaps Mowgli with his paw. Which makes Mowgli run off on him angry-Baloo looks for Mowgli to apologize. Mowgli tempts himself to see the "cold fang"-he chases two peacocks that are mating and gets caught in the snare trap. Then he's surrounded by alligators in Episode 8, Baloo comes to his rescue, Bagheera helps free Mowgli from the snare. Mowgli feels guilty that Baloo is taking his own life to defend him-but which Mowgli realizes Baloo was not dead, he apologizes to Baloo for running off and not listening to him.
