Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure

8 / 10 8 / 10

One of Disney's best sequels! ,

I really love this movie, even more than the original which is something that never happens. For a low budget sequel, the animation is surprisingly good and pleasant to look at. Although the plot is a basic repeat of the first film with reversed roles, it works surprisingly well. It's one of those feel good movies, something I enjoy watching when I need a picker upper. I really really love Angel, she stole the entire show for me with her cute looks and sassy attitude. I only wish we got a better explaination of her past, maybe she could have sang a song about it, had a flashback or something along those lines. Scamp's character annoyed me at first, but I came to like him by the end of the movie because he shaped up and wasn't such a little brat anymore. I couldn't stand how he treated his father to begin with, that was just rude and disrespectful! And he was very arrogent towards Angel who was only trying to help him.
Other than that, the only real disappoint I had with this movie is the ending battle. It really should've been between Tramp and Buster, not Reggie. Buster was the real villain of the film, yet he had no defining moment besides getting Scamp caught by the dogcatcher. He acted like a much more hostile and ruthless bad guy, threatening to turn any relative to Tramp into kibble if he found out who they were, which he never physically tried to harm Scamp at all after finding out. Buster's "defeat" wasn't all that impressive either, if anyone deserved to be caught by the dogcatcher it would have been him and a big old dose of karma as well. But instead, they had him get buried in garabage instead, although Angel's remark of, "The garbage adds some class!" was pretty good I thought!

All and all, it's a solid movie and definitely has a good rewatch value to it. Kids will like it and it should keep adults entertained as well. It could've done with a better ending fight and a deeper story behind Angel, but thsoe aren't bad enough to degrade the film any. It's one of those Disney sequels I can watch again and again and never get tired of seeing! Now, if only they'd make a LATT3..
