I respect people’s opinions about the possibility of Scar being Nala’s father, but I feel that’s not the case, aside from Disney’s no incest rule (not gonna lie, that’d be rather gross. Let’s remember, though, these lions represent people, not actual animals). Setting aside my theory that Scar simply cannot/ does not love anyone in a romantic sense, possibly in any sense, this is how I’d picture Scarafina turning out.

In my Zira theory, I stated that Mufasa, Sarabi, Sarafina, and Taka were best friends when they were cubs. Once Mufasa started training to be king, Taka started to feel second-best. I don’t doubt that Sarabi had queen training (or some form of it, since they were betrothed). Sarafina considered Sarabi her best friend, I’m sure, and felt lonely after she started seeing her less. I would figure this is how Taka and Sarafina bonded, feeling like they were only second best to their best friend. Eventually, Taka’s feelings grew into more than friendship.

As they got older, Sarafina and Taka still stayed friends, but Taka’s behavior towards Mufasa and being a king in general worried her. In his mind, though, he was probably acting in such a way so that they could have a better life together. Sarafina strongly discouraged his idea of the wildebeest incident and why he did it and eventually rejected his offer of becoming his future bride. She felt that if she were with him, she was betraying her pride, and she definitely didn’t want to do that. Afterwards, he wanted the throne only for himself and no one else. Scar’s behavior towards her eventually got more distant and rotten, so she left the pride momentarily to do some soul-searching (at which Nala was conceived at some point).

Assuming that Sarafina died in the middle of Scar’s reign, it would definitely shed some new light as to why he would want Nala as his queen (in the musical), especially if he still had some feelings for Sarafina.
