Appearance
Is a large bird for a buzzard, with a bulky top end where his wings meet his body. He has a sharp, curved beak, long talons and narrow eyes. His head is crowned with a slicked-back tuft, which sometimes fans out when he's alarmed.

Colours
Predominately is a bluey-black colour on wings, back and tail; is completely white on underparts, chest and head, save some black flecks on his white chest and black 'mask' marking around his eyes; he has a yellow beak and pale yellow eyes. 

Personality
Bold and daring, also sharp and calculating; can be very ambitious.

Likes
Hunting; looking after his family; showing off to his mate

Dangerous animals; some animals bigger than himself; going hungry; his chicks going hungry; not succeeding in certain things . . .

Relationships with Lions/Other Birds
Audaz tends to avoid mingling with birds outside his family; he has got a few acquaintances among the mammals, including a few lions, but most animals are avoided (unless they are prey).

History

When the Outsiders were still led by Zira, Audaz (known as Yam until adult) was born. His parents lived alongside Zira's lions in the barren lands. They liked to annoy Zira herself; in time they built a nest in her favourite dead tree, which really riled her. But Yam's father fought the Outsiders and claimed that tree for his family. In it, little Yam was hatched.

Yam as a fledgling would pester Nuka (then a teen), dive-bombing the lion who was at first annoyed with the buzzard's antics. Nuka, and Kovu, soon used Yam's playful volleys as training for dodging and counterattacks, and they both formed a very slight friendship with the bird.

Audaz left the Outlands once fully grown, seeking adventure. He flew far and wide over Africa, zig-zagging northwards, and in time reached a Spanish-speaking part of the continent, in the Western Sahara. There he met another, female buzzard, Joya. They became mates and while in the area, Yam changed his name to the Spanish ''Audaz''.
