Awena was ignored by her parents from a young age even though it was a miracle birth – no one thought she would survive!

Awena was extremely intelligent, impressing others around her and being more liked than her parents. Her parents didn’t like that one bit. One day, she was so fed up of being resented by her parents; she came up with a plan to get noticed – to be revolting! It worked, but only for a while.

She got put in the group used for training boys to survive on their own after her actions.

The Pride leader didn’t want her around anymore, but he liked her enough to give her help when surving on her own. It was here she met Tojo. She loved spending time with him and the two of them would tell jokes and mess around together.

They would dream of being older and all the things they would do together once they’d been released from the Pride, however, Tojo was sent away long before Awena and she never saw him again.

When Awena had completed her training, so too left and survived on her own for several months. She tried to think what Tojo would do and follow him and find him again, but in the end she got hideously lost.

One day, she just sat in the middle of the grasslands crying, but was approached by a lion called Tulivu. They decided to stick together for company.

They fall in love and decide to live together.

They decided to make a Pride for those who were alone or those needing a family. Their Pride soon grew and they had great fun with their new friends.

The Utendaji Pride was set up so I was able to educate everyone on musicals, one of my favourite things (get the pun?)! I just love them and their songs are so powerful, so every picture of them will relate to a song and I will post the link of the song so you are able to listen to it, as well as a context in the story of the musical.
