Personality

Shujaa is a self-confident young lion that doesn’t have problems with shyness and that sort of things.He is a natural leader,brave and charismatic.He understands his duties as a king and does his best to continue after Simba.He isn’t fond of the idea of bethrothing the royal cubs to the lions they haven’t ever seen,but he knows it’s a part of tradition.He isn’t in love with his mate,but he respects her and they are good friends.

History

Shujaa was born along with his twin sister Safura to Simba and Nala as their first cub.He was presented as the heir,and has been chosen as the next king after Simba.It was highly expected for Shujaa to continue the lineage and be as good king as his ancestors.This put a certain amount of pressure on Shujaa’s back,something the little prince didn’t feel until later.

Unlike Safura,Shujaa didn’t have a carefree cubhood.From the beginning,he was trained to be the king and spent most of his time with his father,having lessons or going around their territory.He had some hard times understanding some of the laws and mores,like the one about his half-brother,Abaeze.Abaeze was Simba’s other cub,his son with another lioness,born a little time after Shujaa and Safura.He was never spoken about in the royal family,never seen around Simba or ever taken on lessons.Shujaa could notice how bitter Nala’s face was every time he asked about Abaeze or mention him.After one mass of questionings,Shujaa was told Abaeze existed only because of one law,and if there weren’t for that law,he wouldn’t have happened.

Shujaa was at first confused with that law,but after the advice to just forget it,he did for a while,but not before trying to meet Abaeze.Safura tried to restrain him,as usual,but Shujaa didn’t listen.He had to know his brother,no matter what.

Abaeze turned out to be a fun cub to play with,and Shujaa spent most of his days hanging out with him.The two half-brothers were also best friends,but Simba was not too happy,and neither was Abaeze’s mother.Simba forbid Shujaa to hang out with his half-brother,stating that he was lower-ranked,and unnapropriate as the „law-cub“ to be close to the heir.Apparently,the law was not well thinked about.Simba and Nala soon had another cub,a girl whom they named Kiara.

As he turned into his teenage years,Shujaa’s lessons became more intense and longer.All that Shujaa wanted was to be around his friends,but he knew he must learn for his king duties.Shujaa was a fast learner and had a good sense of justice and leadership.He was well respected around Pridelands,and a heir everybody was fond of,especially his parents.He was handsome and strong,a wish of every lioness,so he became a casanova in his pride,but he knew none of the lionesses could be his mate because he was bethrothed to the princess of the neighbouring pride.Shujaa never really met her,he just knew she will be brought to Pridelands when they grew up.

When he reached his adulthood,Shujaa assisted Simba in leadership,solving minor issues and informing him about everything.He hardly had any time to do anything,being absent most of the day.Safura was sent to her bethrothed’s pride,and although Shujaa didn’t have much time to think about her,he missed her.However,Kiara was spunky and active,and Shujaa loved his little sister.

It was some time after a new lioness named Ada came to the pride,that Shujaa’s bethrothed came.She was the second-born daughter of rulers of her pride,a determined lioness named Chausiku.Shujaa didn’t really know what to think about her.She seemed nice,but he knew there will never be any real love among them.He knew he had to fulfill his duties as the future king and have a heir,but he pushed that aside for some time.

Shujaa was indeed not happy when Kovu came to the plan,his request to join the pride with an explanation he left the Outlanders.Shujaa didn’t really believe him,although he saw Kiara being blindly in love with him.Even when Simba showed signs of accepting him into the pride,Shujaa did not believe him.He knew he was right when Zira and her lionesses almost killed his father.Kovu was banished,and Kiara was heart-broken.Shujaa wanted to go and comfort her,but she was already gone.He knew she went after Kovu,and tried to find out where she went; without result.The war with Zira broke soon,and Shujaa fought bravely alongside his pridemates.When Kiara and Kovu stopped the war,he was not overjoyed with the idea of Outlanders joining them,and he was little to say furious when Kiara took Kovu as her mate.Shujaa still didn’t trust Kovu,a decision that proved right later...
