Relation to The Lion King: In a Pride with Malka and Kula’s son, rescues a trio of cubs who are the children of Kopa, Vitani, Kiara and Kovu.

As a cub, Baka was very unhappy. He liked to have a plan and to stick with it, but most of the time they fell apart. He had even planned his whole future with a position in the Pride and the lioness he’d like to start a family with.

However, Baka didn’t realise the Pride leader was forcing him to leave when he was a young adult. Baka pleaded with the leader, but he refused to let Baka stay.

So Baka fled the Pride without saying goodbye in anger and grief, sad that his dreams were being crushed once again. He wandered alone until he met Tarajika and her friend Hala.

He could tell that both of the lionesses were into him, but he only had eyes for Tarajika. She was so like his other lioness that he fell in love with her almost immediately.

As the three of them wandered the grasslands, Baka talked to them about his plans for the future, making sure they both kept it a secret.

Soon, they met a couple called Awena and Tulivu. They had decided to start a Pride called the Utendaji Pride and Baka, along with Tarajika and Hala, decided they would join.

 It was then when Baka asked Tarajika to be his mate and she agreed. Hala was extremely jealous so she decided to tell Awena and Tulivu’s secret desire – to lead a Pride.

When Baka found out he felt extremely betrayed, but Awena and Tulivu said that he could rule the Pride.

Baka felt his greatest gift as Pride leader was welcoming new members. He even helped care for some cubs that had become lost from a place they called the Pridelands.  

The Utendaji Pride was set up so I was able to educate everyone on musicals, one of my favourite things (get the pun?)! I just love them and their songs are so powerful, so each member of the Utendaji Pride is related to a different musical. Every picture of them will relate to a song and I will post the link of the song so you are able to listen to it, as well as a context in the story of the musical.
