Relation to the Lion King: The Nyika Pride was founded by Nala's sister (Aa Moja)

Binti is the name of my Kenyan penpal. She is really friendly so I decided to name this character after her.

Binti was the first cub to be born to Aa Moja and Jimmy. She is also the first cub to be born in the Nyika Pride, founded by her parents. She liked being close to her mother, whom she loves with all her heart and she loves being taught by her father, who is a great teacher.

Aa Moja would often tell the story of how she and Binti's father met. Binti would listen enthralled even in the hundredth time. She would often ask her mother questions about the world around her. Her mother would tell her about the things her old King used to say. It is the great Circle of Life that makes everything run smoothly in the Nyika Pride as well as the other prides that roam the land. Binti would love this story too and think deeply about the message her mother was trying to tell her.

Jimmy would teach her how to hunt, how to fight and how to be a great Queen. Binti would take all the lessons seriously and try really hard at everything. She particularily liked the fighting lesson in which her father would pretend to attack and she would defend herself. She won every time! In hunting, Jimmy was her prey. He would stay very still then run fast (well... fast for her anyway) and she would have to catch his tail. In the Queen lessons Jimmy would give her certain rules she had to follow. These included:

1. Always put your pride's safety first.

2. Always question rouges who want to join before you agree to let them stay.

3. You must fight for your land when it is in threat.

4. You must care for evey member in the pride.

5. Keep a level head. Use evidence and not your feelings.

6. Be loyal to your pride. Never lead them into danger and/or desert them.

etc. etc.

These she found important but quite boring.

As a teen a brother and sister joined the pride. They were already adults and had similar, but weird, colourings. They didn't like coming out into the sun very often and would stay inside the cave for hours on end, however, the female certainly pulled her weight when hunting with Aa Moja!

Binti wanted to go out searching for a mate but her mother and father said a mate will always find you.

One day, her mate arrived...

His name was Yusuf and he caught her eye by the beautiful colour of his fur. He took a liking to her straight away and stayed by her side.

Binti loved Yusuf with all her heart and one day, her love was brought to life...
