History: Before Chaka was born, Nyria was just getting to know Khari. She was the daughter of Hawa, who was the daughter of Kovu and Kiara. She was also one of the low ranked Maters, for she had produced only a couple cubs for the king that were both males, and now were in another Pride. Khari hadn't noticed Nyria that much at first, until Nyria eventually bumped into Khari while she was hunting for the Pride. It was love at first sight, but Khari knew the rule was that Hunters were not allowed to mate with kings, but Khari bent the rule slightly, making Nyria his Supervisor. Nyria began to have cubs with him, but her first cub that she ever had was Chaka.

Chaka was a slow learner. He spent most of the time with the Cub-Sitters. They taught him how to respect the elders, and what he would do once he grew up and moved away from the Pride. There was one cub that Chaka disliked, which was his brother who was going to be heir. Makuu was a poor prince, Chaka knew, but Khari picked his son for his looks. Makuu had three different colors in his mane, his paws a perfect shading of his father, Khari, and was just plain charming. He could talk the girls into getting whatever he wanted, using his so called "charm". Chaka knew he had to impress his father enough to win the throne. But the question was, how?

Chaka lived a happy enough cubhood. This was when Makuu was starting his kingly lessons, and all the other cubs of Nyria and Khari began to grow jealous. Chaka knew he could gather them all up to have their revenge on Makuu, but that wasn't the Southern Pride's way. They prefered peace and wisdom in all they did. Chaka was slightly dissapointed his mother didn't favor him; after all, he was her first born son. But she didn't seem to favor any of her cubs, not even Makuu. She was just in a trance by Khari, and that was that.

As life went on, the Cub-Sitters began to get more strict, and made sure each cub was ready to take on his responsibilities of leaving the Pride. Only the males left, for Khari didn't want to be challenged to the throne. Chaka didn't want to leave his mother, but Nyria didn't seem to care, much less worry for her cub's safety. His feelings were slighltly hurt, but when Khari announced his son becoming king in about a year, Chaka knew he had to put his plan in action.

When Chaka fully flourished into a healthy adult, Makuu was about to become king. Another lion, Abasi, was going to stay in the Pride to become a Gaurd Lion, and both their ceremonies was going to be held in the afternoon, when all the male lions went out to find their own Prides to rule, and mates. Chaka stayed, insisted he wanted to become a Gaurd Lion too, and his ceremony was held with all the others. After Makuu was crowned, Khari shortly died a couple months later because of old age and stress. Chaka knew this was his chance, and challenged Makuu for the throne. The fight was to be held at midnight.

When midnight came, Chaka was so nervous, he was afraid he would be unsuccessful. But luck was on his side, and Chaka killed Makuu in order to ascend the throne. Nyria couldn't be more proud, and told Chaka how proud she was of him, and all his accomplishments. And that was all Chaka needed to hear.

Relation to The Lion King: Chaka's mother, Nyria, was born to Hawa, and Hawa was the daughter of Kovu and Kiara.
