Story: Nakoa was born in a pride called the Western High Lands, to lions called Elimu and Leal as their only cub. He had a happy and peaceful childhood and two very loving parents, who always made sure he had everything he needed and did their best to keep him safe from any dangers. His father Elimu was one of the warriors of the pride, and since a very young age Nakoa admired him a lot and wished to become a great warrior too some day. Many times he asked if he could go and patrol with his father, but he said it was too dangerous for a young cub. As he grew, Nakoa started practicing his fighting skills, he wanted so badly to impress his father that it sometimes got him in trouble. When he became a teenager, he was downright begging for trouble when he kept challenging rogues for fights to test his skills. Finally Elimu sat him down and had a heart to heart with him, telling Nakoa that being a warrior wasn't only about having good fighting skills. One day, when he was on a stroll, Nakoa got trapped in a large wildfire. He ran from the flames, but eventually, the smoke got so thick that it made him collapse. He would've been dead, if a male lion from the Pridelands hadn't picked him up and rushed him to safety. Nakoa awoke in the larger male and his family's den, only to realize that the mate of the lion who saved his life was his aunt, Leal's sister Sarafina. Upon recovering, he got to know his older cousins, Nala and Mheetu, and the three became good friends. However, they needed to keep Nakoa staying there a secret as the king, Scar didn't allow any outsiders. After he had recovered completely, Sarafina and Nala made a plan to sneak him out of the pride, but unfortunately they were caught by the hyenas. Nakoa ordered the lionesses to run, and fought the hyenas alone, and finally made it back to his home pride with a few bruises and scratches, hoping to meet his aunt and cousins again some day. Nakoa's wounds were treated by his good friend Kadir, who was in training to be a shaman to the pride like his mother Yara. He told Kadir everything that had happened to him and where he had been, and Kadir found himself in disbelief that the Pridelands could be in such a state. After his injuries had healed, Nakoa and Kadir started spenging even more time together and went on all sorts of adventures, and eventually the two became almost like brothers.

Relation to TLK: Sarafina's nephew, Nala and Mheetu's cousin.
