Name: Nyaka (meaning 'want, desire, seek' or 'nearly, almost')

Pride of Origin: Pridelanders 

History: Nyaka is the daughter of a Mzuka Pride member, Galoša, who settled in the Pridelands. She was the result of a union of her mother and a rogue male who was simply passing by at the time and she was born with a very pale pelt, paler than even her mother's.

Many of the lionesses who saw her 'oohed' and 'ahhhed' from almost the moment she was born. Such a pale pelted cub, close almost to being white, was rare even for lions with Mzuka Pride blood in them. White or near-white pelts were highly prized in some prides, such as in the Nyasi Pride and whilst this wasn't true in the Pridelands, the novelty of such a pale pelt drew some curiousity.

As she grew, the attention that her pelt gave her combined with the lax parenting skills of her mother resulted in a very spoiled, attention-seeking cub. Nyaka was used to being the center of attention and was prone to sulking and temper tantrums when she wasn't. Most of the other cubs hated her and gave her a wide berth which only infuriated her more. She was so confident in her own inherit greatness that she could only fathom one reason why they rejected her: they were simply jealous. 

So, in Nyaka's mind, there was only one thing someone of such superior birth could do: become Queen of the Pridelands. (She never knew that Prince Simba had been betrothed to Nala before she was even born).

When Scar ascended the throne, Nyaka didn't put up much of a fight. In her mind, it was better to submit that be killed outright and besides...Scar would need heirs wouldn't he? Still convinced that her near-white pelt made her the most attractive of the lionesses, she constantly readied herself in case Scar ever took an interest in her. She would be more than happy to have perfect pale children, like herself, on the throne of the Pridelands...but this never happened. 

Eventually, Simba returned and retook the throne and THIS, this was Nyaka's chance! Almost as soon as the flames were doused, she began to simper and bat her eyes at him, but he never noticed her and worst of all, made Nala his queen. Infuriated, Nyaka had had enough. If SHE couldn't be queen, then she was determined to see someone of her blood on the throne.

After many many trysts with rogues (soiling herself on such lowborn filth sickens her but she has no other option) she eventually gives birth to a daughter who she names Kirījah, for the hate she feels in her heart towards all those who denied her what she wanted. Although her daughter's pelt is not pale at all, she still takes solace in the fact that she will do what Nyaka could not. It is just her luck that Nala soon gives birth to a son, Tanabi, not long afterwards.

Soon Nyaka is loudly boasting of her daughter's many virtues as often and as loudly as she can, hoping that Simba will take notice and make Kirījah his son's betrothed. She fills Kirījah's head with the same self-important nonsense that she believes until her cub is just like herself: assured of her own greatness and what she so rightly deserves. However,Nyaka is twarted again when Simba decides to get a betrothed from the Oasis Pride for Tanabi instead of looking for a cub from within his own pride.

Infuriated, Nyaka sat and stewed...until Chumvi and Tojo came along looking for a mate for their ward, Imara. Whilst it wasn't the Pridelands throne, it was still a throne, and Kirījah was just the right age fto be a candidate. So, she went to Chumvi and Tojo and spun lies about how her daughter was Prince Tanabi's former betrothed before his untimely death and her lies stuck. Soon, she and her daughter were being taken to her mother's homeland, the Mzuka Pride.

However, Kirījah quickly came up with a plan not too long after arriving where she would poison Chumvi and Tojo, bring Imara firmly under her heel and basically rule the pride herself. Horrified by her daughter's ideas, Nyaka quickly tried to crush them, she meant for her daughter to be queen, not a dictator. Kirījah was quick to turn on her mother and savagely attack her, leaving her bleeding on the ground Kirījah declared her a fool, a fool who just wanted attention, and left her.

It was then, lying injured and with scars marring her once pristine pelt, that Nyaka realised what a fool she truly was and what she had really created: a monster.
