Personality: Tanabi is a lot like his father was as a cub, adventurous and headstrong. He has a talent for getting himself into trouble and has a wicked sense of humour. He can be charming when he needs to be and able to sway others with the right word here and there. However, after leaving the Pridelands he becomes a lot more reserved and driven, determined to reclaim his birthright by any means necessary...even it means waging war on his home.

History: Tanabi was the first cub born to Simba and Nala after Scar was defeated. His birth caused celebration throughout the Pridelands and everything looked hopeful. However, his birth caused tension within the already fragile peace between Simba and Scar's more devout followers. However, Tanabi grew up happily ignorant of this.

His best friends growing up were his 'cousin' Rickon (the son of Sarabi and Scar), Chike (the daughter of Tama and Tojo), Vitani and Nuka. They would often get into trouble and cause mischeif around the Pridelands much to the exasperation of their parents.

However, this did not last. Unknown to Tanabi, Zira was plotting to murder the young prince and Rickon as well, seeing them as the only obstacles to the throne for young Kovu. Nuka overheard his mother's plans and warned Rickon but this wasn't enough to prepare them for Zira's attack. The two cubs were saved by Sarabi at the cost of her own life and escaped into the savannah, terrified for their lives should they try and return.

For weeks, the two cubs wandered the savannah alone barely clinging to survival before they were found by Tojo and Chumvi. The two lions took pity on the cubs and once they had learnt the full story they argreed to raise them and gave them the false names of Kopa (Tanabi) and Afua (Rickon).

They travelled with Tojo and Chumvi for a while until they took over a pride of their own and settled. Tanabi never forgot his home in the Pridelands and was determined that he and Rickon would return someday and avenge Sarabi. He became far more serious after this which caused Rickon to worry for his cousin. However, this new attitude didn't stop him from befriending other cubs in the pride, such as Azalee and Amara.

Tanabi grew into a strong young lion and finally he decided that he and Rickon had hidden for long enough. It was time to return and claim their rightful places in the Pridelands.

They left with Tojo and Chumvi's blessing and were joined by Azalee (out of love for Rickon) and Amara (out of loyalty to Tanabi). They were later joined by another lioness named Tendai and soon the small group arrived in the Pridelands only to be confronted by a young lioness claiming to be the princess, a lioness Tanabi had never seen before. She introduced herself as Kiara and stated that she and her mate were ruling in the place of her parents but Tanabi wasn't fooled, he called Kiara a liar and told her of his rightful claim but she shot back that she had no idea who he was and that she was the rightful heir as her parents' only cub.

Peaceful negotations were over and the two quickly declared war on the other.
