Origins:
Nyota's been around since 2009, possibly. Originally named Najma - has the same meaning but I prefer Nyota. Never drawn her till now.
Name meaning:
Swahili for "star".

Bio
Akili's pregnancy by Kucha was a difficult one. He refused to acknowledge the cub as his own, and with Akili prone to stress and terrible nightmares influenced by Zira's evil spirit, she ended up giving birth too early. The cub, Nyota, was stillborn.
Nyota however, lives on in the spirit realm along with all the others who had passed on. She can appear as an adult or as a cub, but she prefers her cub form. She is later reunited with her mother, after Zira's evil spirit is banished.
Distinguishing features
Large, scruffy head tuft. Large "dipped" eyering like Nuka's. Inner ear rims, inner ear strip like Zira's. Extended claws. Scruffy chin and cheek tufts. Muzzle freckles.
