History:
Umija was born in a pack of violent and rude hyenas in the Pride Lands. Those hyenas prefered to live their lives like they wanted rather than to obey the the rules of the king. The martirarch of that time was Umija's maternal aunt. But she was very fierce, unlike Umija's mother. And she refused to obey the rules when a lion, the first king of the Pirde Lands, wanted everyone to live in harmony. Umija and her mother, however, hated these. They hated being violent. They always either hunted on their own in the proper hunting grounds. Umija's mother always told her to take over the clan when she grew up. And Umija always looked forward to that. Though, she didn't have the courage to challenge her aunt.
The hyena clan didn't cause any serious problems in the Pride Lands, untill when the martriarch became older. As she grew old, she thought she is more elderly and she is above all and that no one should dare to make her obey the rules, not even the lion king. She ordered the hyenas to hunt around as they wished. This caused problems in the Pride Lands.
The new king Mohatu decided to exile the martriarch and whomever supported her. Hopefully, the martriarch didn't have much time left anyways and she died a few days later. She didn't have any offsprings of her own, and being the only relative who could take over the clan, Umija was asked to become the new martriarch. She happily did so. By that time, Umija already had a daughter whom she named 'Bahati'.
As Umija was a fair and just leader, she kept the hyenas in control and kicked out those who refused to respect the Circle of Life. Most of the hyenas were bitter about this, but they slowly adapted with this. Umija was happy, and she trained her daughter to be a kind and good hyena too. Unfortunately, Umija couldn't see through her daughter's good acts. She was unaware of her daughter's real, violent side, who had taken after Umija's aunt...
