Usiku is a young male lion, he was born to two pride landers who were at the time only young adults and felt not ready for cubs, Usiku and Mstari where given to their uncle Kufa to be raised. As cubs Usiku was very shy and often didn’t speak apart from to his brother.

Kufa was a poor hunter, he was able to feed himself and just about feed the cubs, Usiku and his brother grew slower than other cubs. Kufa felt Usiku was a wimp so would try to frighten him.

When Usiku and his brother where teens they left Kufa to be on their own. They soon found themselves in the pride lands, the tried to hide for some days but soon a dark lioness found them, she was princess Kata daughter to King Kovu and Queen Kiara. The two were welcomed into the pride.

As Usiku was a small male and lacked much of a mane he was trained to catch prey, the pride landers soon found he was blind in one eye but it didn’t bother him. Usiku would always talk to Mstari about hunting
