EDIT!!! see below
While the results from the past two days are not yet in, there is enough information for me to inform you...
Toy Story 3 is the highest-grossing film of the year!

Well, to be more specific, it is ONE of the highest-grossing films of the year. In the United States, it has grossed, as of July 4, $301,883,298. That is the third-most of the year, behind Iron Man 2 with $308,530,297 and Alice in Wonderland with $334,185,206. However, this is only as of July 5--this past Monday. As it is now Wednesday, Box Office Mojo has placed Toy Story 3's Tuesday gross to be another $10,000,000, which would easily place it above Iron Man 2. Within the next two weeks, or even just one week, they estimate that its United States gross will pass Alice in Wonderland's. That would mean it is the highest-grossing film of the year!
This does not include its foreign earnings. As of July 5, Toy Story 3 has earned $452,683,298, the fifth-most worldwide of the year. It has only, however, opened up in seven foreign countries, with some countries, like the United Kingdom, not getting the film until later this month. According to a poll on Mojo, over 75% of its members predict Toy Story 3's final world-wide gross to be above $750,000,000, which would place it in the Top 40 highest-grossing films of all time.
Again, the prediction is that, within two weeks, it will become the highest-grossing film of the year in the United States, surpassing Alice in Wonderland, which is currently the fifth highest-grossing film of all time, at over $1 Billion. Toy Story 3 will have competition from the recent Twilight film: Eclipse, as well as The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1, both of which will be released later this year.
EDIT: The Tuesday results are in, with Toy Story 3 coming to a grand gross of $307,822,780, literally less than a million dollars behind Iron Man 2, which has a gross of $308,636,849. It is expected that Toy Story 3 will pass Iron Man 2 today. Both are trailing behind Alice in Wonderland, which holds steady at $334,185,206. I remind you, these totals are only for the United States and Canada.
EDIT 2: With Wednesday's intake, the film passed Iron Man 2 to become the second highest-grossing film of the year domestically. It's total, as of July 7, is now $313,077,846! Also, it passed How to Train Your Dragon to become the highest-grossing animated film of the year worldwide, its total gross now $478,777,846. It is now trailing Alice in Wonderland both worldwide and domestically, and Iron Man 2 and Clash of the Titans worldwide. Again, it is predicted that it will soon pass Alice in Wonderland domestically, and eventually become the second highest-grossing film of the year worldwide.
