After about a year of illegal operation, an underground breeding operation was abandon. The subject animals were left in their cages.

After three terrible days, one feline got fed up and broke loose. He released the others. This animal, an Asiatic lion called  Obi, was made leader  of the other Asian lions. They knew that their kind was almost certain to be destroyed. The brave lion decided to lead his pride forth, to find a new land where they may prosper, and he led them there.

Obi found a wonderful land where the pride could prosper and grow. It was occupied by other lions, lions larger than the Asiatic ones. The males had fuller manes and heavier bodies. If the small pride was discovered, they would be driven out. 

So Obi made laws for his Pride. They must stay in some remote but lush area where the African lions rarely went, with only lionesses leaving to hunt. No male may be headed out: any producer if young was needed for the survival of their kind. So lion should be attention grabbing. No lion should leave. Obi was brilliant and lived a very long time. 

However, years later, he succumbed to his elderly age.

Many, many years later, Obi became a legend, known as the first Asia Lion to the pride now. He has many stories, and many descendants. They still live by his laws, but because of the breach of one cub, they were discovered by a strong King named Simba. He was kind enough to allow the Asian pride to stay, even join them, but they refused, determined to keep their bloodlines clean.
