Can I write a crossover fanfiction about characters from different movies? For example: can I write a fanfic about Simba (The Lion King) meeting Bagheera (The Jungle Book)?

I'm not the one who usually checks out fanfics, but I gues it has to
be logical  I'm just saying that crossovers and AUs are allowed in
fanfiction. |

Really? But do I have to explain how Bagheera, who lives in India,
ended up meeting Simba, who lives in Africa, or can I just mix the
characters in the same place without explaining how they met or know
eachother? |
