"Come on, Ndoto!" The brown lioness shouted to her sister. "You don't want to be late again, do you?"
"It's still rather early," Ndoto said as she stood behind her sister. "Cheche and the others probably haven't started hunting yet." She turned to look at the desert. "Let's race each other there, Unataka!"
"Okay!" Unataka smiled. "But I'll win, as always!"
And the two sisters ran off.
"My sisters are so childish," Nyara, their older sister, sighed. She looked at her mate, Mosi. "Did you have any sisters, Mosi?"
"Yes," He nodded. "I had a half-sister named Kuala."
Nyara lay her head between her paws. "It would be nice to see your old home some day, Mosi."
"Well, I think I prefer it here in the Canyon," Mosi said as he licked Nyara's cheek. "You said you weren't born here, where were you from, Nyara?"
"I wasn't born in a pride," Nyara said as she looked down. "My parents were rogues. They left me and my siblings alone in the Canyon. They wanted us to be safe, but I really miss them."
"My mother ran away when I was a cub," Mosi said.
"Do you ever wish to be with your parents again?" Nyara asked.
"Yeah, sometimes," They were silent for a while, until Munira and Joto, Nyara's cousins, came running towards them.
"Nyara, Mosi!" Munira panted. "We saw.... A male lion, near the mountains... He's heading towards the Canyon!"
Nyara gasped. "Mosi, tell King Desemba and Maska. I'll go warn the hunting team!"
"Alright," Mosi said as he ran back down into the Canyon.
"Finally, you're here!" Winda, one of the lead hunters, said as she stared at Unataka and Ndoto. "Why do you two always take so long?"
"This time we have a good exscuse!" Ndoto said. "Tell them what we saw, Unataka!"
"There was a rogue!" Unataka explained. "I couldn't see him properly, but he looked quite old and not too strong."
"We should probably go back to our pride," Cheche said. "This rogue could still be dangerous, and we must warn the pride!"
"We already know about him," Nyara said to Cheche and Winda when they and the hunting team arrived.
"What are we going to do, Maska?" Korongo, Nyara's brother, asked the old queen.
"Don't ask me, ask King Desemba," Maska smiled at her son.
"Ugh," Desemba groaned. He was still not used to being called "King" and he was not enjoying his first weeks as king. "We will welcome the rogue and see what he wants. If he is dangerous we will get him out of our land. If he is harmless he can stay."
"What if he wants to start a fight?" Asked Sabaya, Desemba's sister.
"Unless he harms someone, we shall not fight back," Desemba replied.
"Haven't you had rogues here before?" Siri, Nyara's sister, asked as she lay down next to Joto.
"Yes, we have," Winda replied. "But not often."
"He's getting closer...," Said Ziada as she stared at the rogue in the distance. Ziada was the youngest daughter of Maska and Mansa. She was a teen at this time, and so was her twin brother, Kaleb.
"I hope he leaves soon," Kaleb said as he turned to look at his sister. "He might be a threat to Desemba's cubs."
"I hope not," Ndoto said. "I won't let anyone harm any of the cubs in our pride."
Desemba stared as the rogue came closer. He looked so familiar... He looked a lot like his mother and the color of his mane was a almost exactly the same asthe color of Unataka's fur.
And soon the rogue was standing in front of Desemba, and he noticed that the rogue looked so much like Nyara and her siblings.
"I am King of the Canyon Pride," Desemba said to the rogue. "Who are you and why are you here?"
"I am Ni," The rogue replied. "I am her to see my children."
"Huh?" Desemba was confused. He looked at his mother and noticed the puzzled but happy look on her face.
"Oh... Ni!" Maska said as she ran up to the rogue and hugged him. "I have missed you so much, Brother!"
"Brother...?" Desemba was even more confused now.
"Uh, Korongo...," Nyara looked at her brother, who seemed to be thinking the exact same thoughts as her. "Is he...?"
"HE IS!" Ndoto exclaimed as she, Siri and Unataka ran towards Ni and Maska, soon followed by Korongo and Nyara.
"Daddy!" They shouted as they hugged Ni.
"My children, you have grown so much!" Ni smiled as he stared at the five siblings.
"Just wait," Sabaya shouted and they all paused. "Mother, you said he's your brother, didn't you?"
"Yes...," Maska nodded.
"And Korongo, Nyara, Siri, Unataka and Ndoto say he's their father, which means...," Desemba, Munira, Sabaya, Joto, Ziada and Kaleb stared at the five siblings. "You're our... Cousins!" They gasped.
"Ni, I didn't know you had a family, or that you lived around here," Maska said as she looked at her brother.
"I live beyond the mountains," Ni replied. "And I had a family, but I don't know what happened to my mate, Alieleza. And I left my children here so they could be safe."
"It's so nice to meet you again, Ni," Maska nuzzled him as she began to cry. "You will always be welcome here."
"Thank you, Maska," He smiled at his sister. "You were always so kind."
"It's just so hard to believe that we are actually related!" Joto said to Siri as the eleven cousins walked together. It was sunset now, and Ni had decided to stay in the Canyon.
"I always thought there was something familiar looked about your mother," Siri grinned. "But I never thought she was my aunt!"
"Look," Desemba pointed at a group of lionesses who were coming back to the Canyon. "The hunting team has returned. Let's go have dinner." He looked at Nyara and Korongo. "Come on, cousins!" He grinned and ran into the Canyon, followed by his siblings and cousins.
(Girlwithatornear: The reason why Dhahabu isn't in this is because at the end of her bio it says she ran away from the Canyon Pride)
