I was sitting on top of Pride Rock, staring up at King Simba. I was shaking, fearing what he might do to me.
I closed my eyes as the King began to growl, and then I felt his huge paw hit me, causing me to fly off Pride Rock, just like Scar had when he was fighting with Simba.
I opened my eyes and gasped. I was in Pride Rock, lying with all the sleeping lionesses.
"It was a dream...," I said to myself as I got up and walked outside.
It was still dark. I sat near the edge of Pride Rock. I didn't care about the rain that was ruining my fur, or the deafening thunder. I was thinking about the dream I had.
"That's the sixth dream like that I've had," I sighed. Since Nala told me that I had to tell Simba about my secret, I was having dreams about Simba trying to kill me or exile me to the Outlands.
"Zuri?" I gasped when I heard someone say my name. I thought they were all sleeping.
I turned around and saw my best friend, Tiifu, sitting at the entrance of the cave.
"What are you doing out here?" She asked me. "It's still early."
"I had a bad dream," I replied.
"What was it about?" Tiifu asked.
"I can't tell you!" I shouted and turned away.
"Zuri, you can tell me anything," Tiifu said calmly as she walked closer to me. "What was your dream about?"
"It was about Simba trying to kill me!" I shouted. "I've now had six dreams about Simba trying to kill or exile me!" I turned around to look at Tiifu, who looked quite surpirsed.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because I'm afraid of what he might do to me!"
"Why would he do anything to you?"
"Tiifu, can you promise not to tell anyone what I'm about to tell you?"
"I promise,"
I looked around to make sure no one was listening. Then I went to Tiifu's ear and whispered, "I'm Scar's daughter."
Tiifu gasped and backed away from me. "Wh-what?" She exclaimed. "Y-you can't be! Scar is dead!"
"My mother became pregnant before Scar died," I explained. "And I have another secret... Nala is my mother."
"You're scaring me, Zuri. So you're our best friend's sister and an evil lion's daughter?"
I nodded. "But please, don't tell anyone."
"But... Why doesn't Simba know?" Tiifu asked.
"Nala thought it would be best if it was kept a secret," I explained. "But she thinks he must find out soon... And she wants me to tell him...."
"Okay...," Tiifu nodded. "I promise I won't tell anyone."
I smiled. "Thanks, Tiifu."
But most of the day I felt terrible. What if Tiifu told someone? How would Simba react?
Then it was time for a hunting lesson. I really didn't feel like hunting, but I had no choice.
We were walking towards Chakula Plains. I heard Tiifu and Princess Kiara giggling to each other as we walked. Usually I would have joined in, but I didn't feel like it today. I decided that today I would tell Simba.
"Uh, Zuri?" I turned and saw Kion, the prince, staring at me.
"What, Kion?" I asked.
"Is something bothering you?" He asked.
I paused, then looked at Nala. "Um, can I quickly speak with Kion before we start the lesson?"
"Of course," Nala nodded.
I lead Kion away from the others. We stopped beside an acacia tree.
"Kion, I must tell you something," I began.
"What is it?"
"I... I'm the daughter of... Scar,"
Kion paused. "I-is this a joke or something?"
"No, Kion!" I shouted. "I really am!"
"But...," Kion looked down, not knowing what to say.
"But I am also your sister," I said.
"You... You're my... S-sister?" Kion gasped. "But how...? No one ever told me...."
"It was a secret for years!" I explained. "Nala didn't tell anyone except for me, Sarafina, and Sarabi. But last week she told me that I had to tell Simba soon. Since then I have been dreaming about Simba trying to kill me or exile me to the Outlands." I stared at Kion, who was silent. "You aren't cross with me, are you?"
"No," He shook his head. "I-I understand. But altough you had an evil father, you have the most wonderful mother in the world."
"We have the most wonderful mother in the world," We both smiled at each other, then turned to look at the others, who were still waiting for us.
"We should probably go back to the others," I said.
"Yeah," Kion nodded. "Well, come on, sister!"
I laughed as I raced Kion back to the others. I felt so much better now that I'd told him.
Usually I hated the hunting lessons, but I enjoyed it this time. But then, when we were returning to Pride Rock, I realized what was happening. Simba was going to come out to greet us, and I would have to tell him.
I went closer to Kion and whispered, "When I tell Simba, please sit next to me and stand up for me if anything happens?"
Kion nodded. "I will."
"Thanks," I said as I nuzzled him.
And, like I thought, Simba came to us. He and Nala talked about the lessons for a bit, and when they had finally stopped, I knew it was time.
"Simba," I began.
He looked down at me. "What is it, Zuri?"
"I... I must tell you something!" I stammered. "I am Nala and Scar's daughter!"
Simba paused, then looked at his mate. "Is that true, Nala?"
"Yes, Simba," She nodded.
There was silence. Simba and Kiara stared at me, too shocked to say anything.
Were they angry? Were they upset? What was Simba going to do to me? I closed my eyes tightly, and waited.
