'Kovu' is a variant of 'Kov' also translated as 'a metal'. I know what
meaning they used making the film, I just chose this one since it'd be
weird for Chumvi and Kula to use 'scar' as their youngest son's
namesake. XD I know lions probably wouldn't know Czech, but hey, they
probably wouldn't know Swahili either. |

However, most of the names have roots to some sort of African
language- like Mufasa does. It isn't Swahili but it the name of the
last king of the Bagada people. Using a Czech meaning for the character Kovu- when the writers clearly gave him the name because of the meaning... Well its a fair question  . Why? Isn't it just "Kov" in Czech ? |

Yes, but it means 'metal' or 'a metal' in Czech. Not all the meanings
have to be Swahili, you know. Take Mufasa or Kiara for example. |

Kovu means 'scar' in Swahili, not 'metal'. Chuma is the translation
for 'metal'. |
