Released in 1988 by MGM Studios, this direct-to-video sequel centers on the adventures of Timothy Brisby, of whom it was foretold that he would one day save Thorn Valley from a renewed threat by NIMH, the National Institute of Mental Health. So it's off to Thorn Valley for him, to be trained in any and every area which might concievably help him face this threat.  But when he has a run-in with Jenny, a mouse who displays the ssurprising ability to read, he soon discovers that the threat is much closer than he thought, and that he will have to take the battle to the enemy's home turf.  And that's not even the bad news.

The movie is, regrettably, sorely lacking in Don Bluth's original style and charm.  It lacks the level of drama, visual effects, and gravity that its predecessor boasted.  However, there are still some enjoyable moments, as well as a certain amount of good character interaction and development, and it still provides a somewhat enjoyable experience for the very young.
