And for real, this time!
A brazilian advertisement shows the official artwork for The Princess & The Frog DVD and Bluray :
Apparently, The Princess & The Frog DVD should be out in march and Bluray "sometime later" in Brazil (and probably the same for the USA)
I'm a bit mixed on that cover.
The characters seem a little "off model", and not enough "hand drawn" (they could have used the same cover for a CGI film).
But mostly, I'm disappointed that once again, they put emphasis on a "Princess Tiana" when the film really doesn't have much "princess" content (Tiana not believing in fairy tales, but hard work, and being dressed like this for only one scene...) I fear it may turn away people who could be interested in traditional animation but not "girlish" films. (which it isn't!)
Still, the artwork itself is pretty, has nice colors, and I have seen much worse, even from Disney. But why bother using a different cover? Why not just using the theatrical one(s)?

Well, at least it's not stock images... I mean, I hate how Simpsons
use the same images over and over again for their merchandise most of
the time. The lighting and shading is rather nice on this, yet I heavily agree with you on the whole "princess" angle. As I said it myself before, I like Tiana in her waitress dress more than her two princess (and wedding) outfits. Also, why is it the costume, than the one at the end? |
