Personality

Khalia is a reasonably calm mare. She mostly takes time to think things through and can come up with a plan in moments. She isn’t judgment and takes time to get to know others. She never makes others do things they don’t want to. But, on the other hand she can be a real party animal and likes to have fun. She is always very outgoing and loves doing things that make her happy. Khalia can also be a HUGE flirt, and is known to flirt with guys she knows, but once she finds that special someone she will always be faithful.  She lives life to the fullest!

History

As a Foal

Khalia was born in late September to a beautiful white mare and a dark palomino stallion in Ireland. They lived in the forest, not too far from many other herds, although they never lived in a herd. Khalia had an older sister and brother, but they were too busy with their own friends to worry about her. Khalia’s father was never around much, so she was raised by her mother and older sister.

Before long Khalia found out that her father had left their family, for good this time. He hadn’t even said goodbye, he had just disappeared. Khalia was too young to understand, and so she wasn’t worried about not having a father. Little did she know that her mother was pregnant to her father, and was expecting another foal the following year.

 Shortly after Khalia turned 9 months old, her older sister left to find a herd of her own, followed by her brother who wanted to find a mate and start his own herd. Khalia was now alone with just her mother.

Khalia had a few friends and often travelled to their herds to play. She knew the dangers of travelling alone, but her mother was alright with it so she would set off in the morning and return in the afternoon, but this would turn out to be a bad idea…

 One afternoon she was on her way home like normal. The sun was slowly setting and she knew her mother would start worrying about her soon. She started trotting happily when she heard the sound of dogs barking and growling behind her. She had never heard such a weird sound, and so she stopped peering into the gloomy shadows of the forest. Suddenly 3 large dogs came rushing out of the bushes. They surrounded the small foal, snapping and howling. Khalia realised they didn’t want to play, and became scared. She couldn’t run away, they were blocking her way. The dog’s owner soon appeared, roughly throwing a rope around her neck and calling his dogs off. She was dragged out of the forest and walked for many hours until she came to a farm, where she was put into a paddock with a broodmare called Shade. Shade took Khalia in and raised her as her own.

As a Teen

Khalia matured quickly. She spent lots of time with Shade, even though she was getting older. She was a truly beautiful yearling, and many of the other colts liked her. Her mane and tail had grown out and had become quite wavy. He coat had become shiny and her markings more defined. She often pranced around her paddock, showing off and flirting with the colts. She often used her good looks and big blue eyes to get the other colts to do things for her, although she never really meant any harm.

Before long her owners decided that they could make a huge profit out of this stunning little filly and sent her off to the auctions. She was bought for a total of $10,000 and shipped off to America, to become a show horse. With all her features they didn’t have to do much to make her look amazing. Khalia started her training in America, and was going really well. She lived on a huge stud farm called Eagardale Stud with lots of horses and had no trouble fitting in. She was soon back to her old ways of flirting with all the colts/stallions and was very quickly the most popular mare.

After a few shows, it was decided that Khalia could be sold for almost triple the amount of money that she was bought for. Usually the farm wouldn’t do this, but they needed the money and they knew she could fit in anywhere. She was privately sold for $26,000 to another private seller who sold her to the Calvary just 3 days after he got her. Khalia was moved into the Calvary stables and was soon being trained to march with the other horses. This is where she saw him…

She was in training when the Colonel rode into the camp on a Palomino stallion. Khalia didn’t take much notice of him, until she was put into her paddock, right next to him. She looked up and saw him looking at her. She went back to grazing, but out of the corner of her eye saw him walk up to the fence. She turned her rump to him. Then she heard him speak. ‘Khalia?’ His voice was hopeful and slightly shaky. She spun around and looked him straight in the eyes. ‘Dad?’ She took a step forward. ‘It is you!’ The stallion pushed against the fence to get closer to his daughter. Khalia trotted up to the fence and nuzzled her father lovingly. That night he explained how he had been searching for better grazing grounds when she was a foal, that why he was never around much and that he had been captured by the Calvary and moved countries, he hadn’t just left. Then she explained everything that happened to her, and then they talked about her mother and siblings. After that her father promised to get them both out of the Calvary and free again.

As an Adult

As Khalia became a young adult, her father decided that he wanted to stay in the Calvary, but that he would still help her escape. Khalia understood, and soon after she escaped through a hole in her fence. She galloped for many hours, and before long got tired and started looking for a place to stay. She could see a small stream of smoke floating up into the sky on the horizon, and so she slowly made her way towards it. After a night of walking she arrived at the source of the smoke. A small Indian village stood alone in the middle of a plain. She wasn’t afraid of humans and so she decided to stay for a little while. The Indians didn’t even try to catch her, they just went along with their own business and let her roam the village by herself.

After a while she got bored and left that village and travelled, roaming the land freely. She stopped at many other villages, making them her home for many weeks at a time. She continued to do this until she came to the Lakota tribe. They were just like any other Indian tribe, but here she met a stallion named Delka. They became close friends and soon fell in love. They then left the village to find a home of their own and start a herd.

After a month or so they came to a lovely lush clearing in the centre of a forest. Immediately they knew that this would be their new home.

From then on they would travel just outside the forest to the farms and set poor mistreated horses free, and welcome mares and foals into their herd. Delka knew what needed to be done for his blood lines to run on, and so Khalia and he agreed that he could breed with all the other mares in the herd. She knew that he would never replace her, and so she was fine with it.
