History
Before Birth:
It was nightfall. A group of Indians were returning to their tribe, with an exhausted buckskin stallion following behind them. Once placed into one of the corrals, the stallion was left alone for the night. Many horses that lived in the tribe kept to the sleeping stallion’s corral, wanting to see the new arrival. One of those horses being a palomino mare that recently escaped from the Cavalry as well, but months before this stallion did. The amount of horses going by the stallion’s corral, it’s going to be obvious that this is going to be popular talk within the tribe when morning fall comes. Which was true.
Once the sun came up that morning, the uproar about the buckskin stallion began. Almost every human and horse within the tribe were talking about this horse. It was the norm for the locals to bring in former cavalry horses or injured ones at that. Wild horses tho? It was rare during that time period. Once the chatter about the stallion died down, the palomino mare that had visited him while he slumbered during his first night began to slowly introduce herself to the stranger.
The introduction was a slow process. The mare never met a wild horse before, living her whole life in captivity. Going from living on a ranch, being sold to the Cavalry, and escaping to the Lakota Tribe. The stallion however, seemed to be interested in going back to his homeland; he didn’t mind the mare’s company either. During those months, while he was staying at the tribe, the two began to form a friendship. Exchanging their names to each other, Miranda, and Spirit.
During the last few months of Spirit staying at the Lakota tribe, Miranda began to grow jealous of Rain and Spirit’s closeness. The two mares never got along in the past, always head-butting. Seeing the one she has problems with going after the stallion she’s secretly admiring, made her more jealous and angry. The tension kept on growing till the night before the Lakota tribe got ambushed by the Cavalry. Things that lead to another that night, becoming a fling after those events.
The next day, the tribe got ambushed and Spirit got dragged away to the railroad by the Cavalry. Miranda was heartbroken. Her home got burnt down and the one she loved got dragged away. Worse of all, she discovers she’s pregnant with his foal while he was away. The mare was terrified. Raising a foal by herself? Certainly with someone she knew that she couldn’t have. She knew that Spirit loved Rain; it was pretty obvious from the start. She had to deal with those thoughts until he returned, hoping he did return alive. His return to the tribe was very short-lived. The stallion only came to drop Little Creek off and returned to his homeland with Rain. Miranda watched in the distance in heartbreak, feeling forgotten about. Sadly enough, the stallion never got to hear the news about her pregnancy either.
Early Life:
Miranda gave birth to a colt on the night of April 12th. The night was crystal clear; the air was crisp. Shortly after the birth of the colt, a meteor shower began to start. Like nature was celebrating the new life that was brought to this world, it was truly amazing. The two stayed under the meteor showering skies, returning to the Lakota tribe that morning of.
Since the absence of Rain, Miranda has filled in the role as Little Creek’s companion. Having the same duties that the mare before her had. Even with a foal, Miranda kept up with those responsibilities. Musgraves learned new things about his homeland and the individuals that were around him. His life as a foal turned out fine, even though a father figure was absent from his early life.
Once grew up to be a yearling, training to compare companions with the Indians began. It was rough. He didn’t like how the Indians were handling him, especially how they were acting or how they tried to “control” him. Musgraves wasn’t having it. His social life and how he interacted with others went down the drain. It was a switch; his behavior totally changed. He got more aggressive, more snappy, and uptight. Making it hard to make friends. During that time, he only had one friend. Jax, a fellow yearling that lived in the tribe as well. The two have been close since young age, till close to this day. His behavior stayed the same towards the Indians for a few years till he was forced to leave the tribe.
Close to Death:
A black rabicano stallion stumbled to the Lakota tribe. His appearance? The stallion seemed to have an intimidating persona, eerie almost. It was obvious that this horse was formerly human-owned. His pelt was covered in scars from flesh wounds that came from whips and bite marks. His mane was trimmed short by scissors, same as his tail. The stallion escaped from his former owners, looking for his former love. Who was Musgraves’s mother. Miranda refused the stallion’s advances, which led the two stallions to fight. The stallion didn’t take no as an answer, Musgraves having to step in to protect her. The result is Musgraves being almost killed by this stallion. Rip, the black rabicano stallion, was forced to fight in the past. Making him more of a skilled fighter than the younger stallion. For Miranda’s sake, Musgraves was kept alive but chased off from the tribe. He was no longer welcomed if Rip was there.
It took time for Musgraves to recover from that fight, a long road of recovery with training to defeat the stallion. It was difficult, but he managed. During his recovery, he started his own herd. At first it was only him and Jax, who followed him after he got banished. He maintained territory that wasn’t far from the Lakota Tribe, being far enough from them but trying to be close enough to his mother without getting in trouble. Once his recovery from his injuries were complete, Musgraves made his way back to the tribe. He wanted his revenge; he knew he could win this time. However, Rip has disappeared. The stallion decided to leave the tribe since Miranda kept refusing to leave the tribe with him. Leaving her pregnant with his foal, who’s a few months old, when Musgraves returned to the tribe. Seeing this made him feel enraged, taking in his younger sibling under his wing so the foal had a father figure to look up to. Musgraves never had one; he wanted his younger brother to have one while growing up.
Even though he split the responsibility for Cyrus with his mother, Musgraves still decided to stay with his herd that was slowly expanding. The thoughts of humans still didn’t settle with him; he kept himself away unless he was at the tribe for daily visits. Once Cyrus got to the age of deciding to stay at the tribe or not, Musgraves invited him to join his herd. Which he did accept, becoming the second command. From there, Cyrus got trained on how to lead the herd if anything happened to Musgraves in the future. That training also included fighting skills and survival; if Cyrus ever needed to use it, Musgraves had to teach himself the hard way.
Current:
One night, while the herd was sleeping near a creek that was at a corner of their territory, they saw smoke in the distance above the trees. The herd used to smoke from the tribe, but this smoke came from a different spot within the woods. Not at the usual spot for Indians, so Musgraves decided to investigate. The investigation ended up being captured by wranglers, getting dragged to cavalry base. Getting traded to them and being sold by them to a ranch that was miles away from the fort. While being transported by Cavalry men, Musgraves was able to escape. Successfully getting away, searching for his herd again.
