well find out her favorite snack that's not to fatty with bad fats, and feed them to her, that packs on a bit of good weight, if she can be ridden ride her maybe of short easy trails or just around the yard, to build up her muscles, which will in turn help her gain healthy fat back. If she's recovered from everything then she should gain her weight back, she's older so it will take a bit of time. Once it's back she shouldn't lose much of it, older horses drop weight a bit naturally so she may be lil lighter than the youngesters.

Yeah a ranch but it's not really big, he had to sale some of his land a while back, now he is down to about 10 horses, 3 cows,1 bull, a mule and donkey. but he still has a ton of chickens -.- all of which i swear hate me. chickens are so mean.

Well its actually been a good bit since she has gotten her teeth pulled. I know they bother her anymore. And she's reallll greedy ! She coliced hmmmm over a few months ago, so she "should" be recovered from that. Do you know any other "goodies" that help pack on weight? And a ranch?!! You're so lucky, ! :D

well it sounds like your feeding her enough for her to start again again, I think once she's felling better she'll gain the weight back. as long as she has an hunger for food still she should be fine. If she stops wanting to eat then there's a problem, whitch might mean were's something going on in her mouth or stomach, and if the teeth have been pulled recently it might just bet he fact that she's not used to them being gone yet. I can go and ask my Uncle about it tomorrow when i go to his ranch.

Well here let me tell you everything, . First off she isn't really mine, but belongs to my aunt who lives behind me. And she was gaining weight until she had sand colic and then started dropping it. No, she doesn't have the best teeth, , she had to have three of her back teeth pulled when we got her teeth floated. We're tryin something new now, beet pulp. So now she get a bucket full of weight gain/feed/beet pulp twice a day. (the feed bucket holds around 5 gallons)

oh geez, that's a tough one, well if her teeth are ok, you should try finding a brand of feed that she likes, sometimes they take better to certain brands. If she likes it she'll eat more, I'd give her healthy messurments of feed at least 3 to 4 times a day(depending on how big her food troff is) and make sure you give her healthy side snacks. Also try spending time with her and making her comfy if she's comfortable she might eat better. we did that with the 14 year old we fostered and he did well. But with a horse that Age its always good to seek a vet on the details on whats good and bad for her stomach.

Hackney's are a pretty breed. Yeah it was hard getting the weight back on her, and having it stick. But once she got happy and felt safe she ate like a pig, then we had to put her on a diet because we didn't want her to gain to much, we still wanted her to be able to preform. Poor little thing, He must have been uncomfortable back then, good to know he's got a nice loving home now.

Yup, the old Nicktoons were awesome too (Rocko's Modern Life, Ahh...Real Monsters!, Doug...). It's sad that this generation will never know who Stick Stickly was...man, I feel old now XD

Sounds like that neighbor was just dying to shoot your grandfather's wolfdog; no excuse needed. Especially hearing how he boasted about it. I couldn't handle that. I'd definitely end up in jail if anyone ever tried to hurt or shoot my wolfdogs.

I love Hackneys! If she's mixed with another slim-boned breed, I can imagine how difficult it is to keep weight on her O_O My stallion was a rescue. I got him when he was 8 months old. He was riddled with worms and was very thin. It took me a very long time to get weight back on him and flush the parasites out of him. He's over 2 years old now, and doing much better. I detest animal abusers. They should go through the same torture they put the animals through and see how they like it.

X3 i adore the 1950's cartoons to, i liked their style of humor. Cow and Chicken was awesome i was a fan of boneless chicken .

:/ yeah my grandpa's wolfdog was to trusting of strangers, his breeds had him were he thought every one was his friend, and he thought the neighbor was his friend and went running at him, so they shot him. the cold part is, the neighbor said that his tail was wagging and he had a ball in his mouth...why would you shoot something that didn't look like it wanted to hurt you?

We own a Hackney mix, no one knows what else she was mixed with. we got her from the ASPCA, she was an starvation case, its hard to believe that anyone can harm something that depends on you. we've had her since she was a yearling Her names Babe, X3 actually i should have posted her up on my profile.

Older cartoons are great. I'm a sucker for the old Tom and Jerry cartoons from the 1950's. I'm a HUGE fan of Ed, Edd n Eddy. And I'm quite fond of the old Road Runner/Coyote and Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. I like 'em REALLY old school Cow and Chicken had to be the funniest concept ever "Mama had a chicken, mama had a cow, Daddy was proud, he didn't care how!" The laws of science have no business in cartoons!

Believe it or not, I actually like to give most of my art away. Getting some cash here and there for it helps with buying new pencils and paper, but I've always felt weird about selling it. I'll draw anything from horses to canines to felines to anime and everything in between (except dirty stuff).

I raise my wolfies with all different kinds of animals (goats, horses, rabbits, ferrets, etc) to help eliminate prey drive. My guys are trained to stay in the yard, not to climb, to only dig in the center of the yard and never at the fence line, and to be nice to but not overly friendly with strangers. Unfortunately, despite all of this, most people will shoot a wolfdog without a second thought. Poor things have such a bad reputation caused by stupid people who had no right owning them in the first place.

My mini mares are going to drop their first foals next spring. I can't wait! I love big horses, but my mom is disabled (I live with and take care of her), so we can't get big horses, just the little ones. I love them anyway.

What kind of horse do you own, if you don't mind me asking?

n well thats good to know, I like the older cartoons better though, the new ones are good its just there is something missing. I miss Dexter and Cow and chicken, and Ah!monsters

oh no prob, the truth is the truth, and that's cool you've got your art in stores, I'm sure it doesn't take long before it's sold. My grandfather used to own wolf hybrids, til one of them got shot because the neighbor thought it was one, after that he stopped. Mini horses are just too cute, We've got a horse, working on getting two more. I own a coydog which is the closest i'm going to get to a wolfdog for a while i think.
