gemmawolf :
Hi! I was wondering about what Spirit Merchandise was released with the film? I want to write an article on it see (no stealing, people! I called it first!)
Here's what I already got:
DVD/VHS
Bag - I have one, I ant provide a photo
Toys - I have the Spirit and Rain models, but they also released an Esperanza and a Little Creek set (items were included)
Books - Kathleen Duey's prequels
Any more? I know I could just search the internet, but I want to make this personal to the Spirit Source members. Not only items, but what memories do you have of the release? Was it popular? How old were you? (OK, don't specify - 'quite young' is all we need to know, internet saftey is important!) What were your first thoughts on the adverts? How did you find out about the movie?
If you have any photos of items, please let me know and I can add them at a later date. This isn't going to be out for a while, since I need to actually structure the article first. That's right - I haven't even started writing it yet!
Thanks,
gemmawolf

it does! the more replies to this the better, im trying to get as many
people to take part as possible so it isnt so much as a facts and
figures article but a collection of everyone's thoughts and
memories. duh! i just thought of another one! the soundtrack! i only got it on my ipod about a year ago, since the cd was rare in shops other than the us, but its easy to fing on itunes at least |
| September 02, 2010 | ||
Yeah, I've seen the gameboy game, and I've also seen a how to draw
book. Hope this helps! |

wow, thats a lot then! yeah i forget to list the games - though i
didnt know about the pc one! mcdonalds didnt have anything spirit related at the time, but its not as big in the uk i guess (still very famous, but nowhere near as many in the us appently). ooh! it thought of another one! you know those card-boardy colour in thingies that you get from markets and the black lines are felt? im sure youve seen them folks... i found one a year or so ago of esper and baby spirit (the pic at the top of the site), which i attempted to colour in but my rubbish pens ran out XD breyers were popular i hear, causing many fanbabies, so ill be sure to include them. i havent seen them, but im sure google will supply as usual ^^ plushies are created for most films, but only in excess for the popular ones, so its no wonder theyre rare. itd be great to get an image of one of them too X3 yeah i think posters would have been easy to buy at the time, but that talking book is much rarer i think. ive still got a tattered, low battery powered anistasia talking game book in my bedroom i think, but i might have binned it interesting ways of coming across the film though! i heard about it from one of my friends mum, who thought that id enjoy it. i went to see it with my mum a few weeks later and i was given a free blue drawstring bag with the dvd case pic on it! ill include a pic keep them coming people! even if its already been mentioned, please post. i need memories too ya know! |

I currently don't own any-anymore as belive it or not i sold them all
on ebay, but There were a few Rare plushes, foalting around eybay of
Spirit and Rain, and i think MCdolands tried to sale little plastic
toys if the SPirit crew once, and if people are just looking for
cool was to get more toys and figures of them There are Many
dollmakers and toy makers on DA that would gladely make you one... for
a fee of corse. XD i am 18, and when the movie came out, i had gotten a poster, the movie, the video game (which sucked but was still kinda fun) the
story book where you press the button to here the character talk,
"Spirit of the Cimarron-Esperanza", one rain plushie, a coloring
book, the Bryers, , but i ending up saling all that when the movie
tanked a couple of years after the release because of not so great
advertisements, although on Ebay i made like 500 after i sold it all
so i wasn't complaining.as far as the advertisement goes i think they would have done a far better job at promoting the movie to get more sails and they didn't play up the merchindise enough, to get kids excited about the movie. XD does not really have to do with this post but i had an Porcaline Indian Doll named Little Creek tha ti bought up in utah, i do not know if it was suposed ot be based off of him but he had the pony tails (took em out though)...i can take a picture but he's severly cracked up, as my step dad doesn't care about my Porcaline indain dolls and he knocked it and another one to the ground XD now his face is busted
and the others arm is out of socket. |

There was a game (PC and Gameboy Advance) I almost bought the PC game
but Age of the Empires caught the height of my interest at the time.
The PC game was called Search for Homeland http://www.gamespot.com/pages/ [...] boxshot.php?pid=571595&popup=1 Also there were Burger King toys, consisting of Spirit, Rain, Little Creek, and the Colonel. Spirit and Rain's legs and tails were pose-able (I had Rain but I lost her) Little Creek and the Colonel's arms and heads were poseable, but remained bow-legged so they could ride the horses. (I had Little Creek but he too vanished along with Rain) http://i53.tinypic.com/23k1y6e.jpg I actually didn't want to go to Spirit (I had finished the second grade before that summer), but my mother was a big horse lover and she wanted me to see it with her (plus they gave out free movie tickets per rental at Blockbuster to go see it anyway when people actually WENT somewhere to rent movies) it turned out I liked it and actually went to see it three times (thanks to Blockbuster tickes ) It was really popular in North Dakota (where I had lived at the time) because the Colonel looked Like Colonel Custer and he had been Stationed in North Dakota so he was a large part of the State's history (there is a replica of his fort and his house in the State as well) And don't worry about someone snagging your idea, I'll make sure that won't happen. |

By the way, by 'toys' I don't mean the Breyer models - I mean actual
toys that had moving legs, combs, a lasso, feathers, ect. |
