Facebook connect! | Tweet |
Here's something that (I hope) will allow more people to come and join the sites. You know, most people are lazy when it comes to creating an account on a site, which is why I have now added a "Facebook connect" button to make this easy.

It's simple : if you have a Facebook account, you can click on that and you'll automatically become a member on Animation Source!
Needless to say, you need to own a Facebook account first, but seriously, who doesn't nowadays...
Facebook connect can also be convenient for all of you who are already members here : by associating your Facebook account with your AS account, you will be able to login here with just one click! (and that can also be useful in case you forget your password)
IMPORTANT : To associate your current AS account to your Facebook account, you need to logout, then click on the "Facebook connect" button. When you're "back" on AS, you will be offered a choice : enter your login/pass to associate your account (you will only have to do that once). DO NOT use the other option (enter a username), because this would lead into creating a new account.
About privacy concerns, Animation Source does NOT use your real name, so you will be asked for a username (if you're new). It cannot read your email address from Facebook either. The only information that is taken from Facebook is your avatar and gender. (remember that you can modify them on here if you want to)
There will be other advantages to associate to a FB account (eg : choosing to publish your fanarts on your wall), though I will need more time to work on that.

I love this new "Connection" philosophy. I haven't tried it yet, but I
know why Steet has done this, . |

I agree with Steet. First of all, he has a point. Second, it's easy now for the ones who like facebook. And third, he's my first best friend on the internet. |

Well, this is an option. No one forces you to use Facebook connection,
and if you're connected, you won't see them anyway. As much as I don't like depending on a third party site (and I REALLY don't like that - who knows which changes they could make), I don't have much choice. I really think that Google may find the biggest trouble ever in its history, because I think Facebook will progressively "replace" it as the biggest source for getting information - and it's especially important when it comes to FAN content that people can share with each other. So, yeah - if it was only me, I wouldn't have done this. But if Animation Source wants to live in the future, it's a necessary step. Besides, Facebook connection is quite convenient...(I intend to bring more like that, such as Google connection, or OpenID - but considering the time it took me for doing it with FB...) |

i agree with lux, facebook seems to be right under your nose whatever
site youre on now. i liked animation source without all these annoying
buttons so you can like everything. but hey - the reason that this is
happening is to increase site popularity, so i cant complain. |
