            Past: None/Open

Origin Warren: None, born in Lienahlay’s heather to a hlessi pair of rabbits

Home Warren: Lienahlay

Past Warrens:

Current residence: Lienahlay

Rank: Captain – full Owsla

Public Image: Not a most well-loved captain, Lindrithray’s job is to deal with uncooperative or disruptive rabbits. This results in him often having to resort to force.

Mental

Personality: A fairly decent buck if ever there was one, Lindri has a laid-back and somewhat happy-go-lucky sort of personality but can seem detached. He isn’t especially clever and can be manipulated, but he is exceedingly loyal – just about nothing keeps Lindri from doing as he’s told. He can be callous – extremely so – and does not shy away from hurting others if necessary. Lindri has a patient temper and as far as captains of Owsla go, he is one who is often misinterpreted. He has no patience for cruelty, certainly, and can be bad news if his patience is expired. Lindri can also be very bull-headed and refuses to let himself be swayed – sometimes this can dip into a sense of self-destruction as he does not appreciate being told other than what he wants to/does believe, and this includes his loyalties in particular. He will not be told what to believe and will not stand for any sort of rebellion – he is capable of putting one down as soon as he knows of one, orders or no. Lindri has an even temper and sturdy disposition.

Fatal Flaw: Loyalty

Likes: Overcast days, fog, Lienahlay

Dislikes: Loss of kittens, rebellion, being questioned

Fears: None in particular

Goals: None

Strengths:

Heavy: In a similar vein to Woundwort or Bigwig, Lindrithray is very strong and nearly impossible to drag down and has a tremendous blow to him.

Weaknesses:

Unquestioning: While loyalty is something to admire, Lindri will do anything Rush or Gentian tell him without question and can be led into the wrong in doing so.

Slow: Lindri is slow and thus has very little chance in fights in the open.

History:

Lindri was born with three siblings to a doe in the heather. She was an efrafan escapee, and had hidden in the warren as a means of escaping wide patrols. The father was in fact Woundwort himself, and the young Lindrithray never knew. He was named by his mother only after he furred out – she could not be sure for quite awhile that her litter would survive the harsh heather.

But, for several weeks, they did, and when Lindri’s mother saw his strange facial markings, she named him “Badger-bite.”  And for a few weeks, all went well for them.

However, before too terribly long, their mother was out and the litter was attacked by a badger. Two of the kits were killed and the third ran away, and Lindri got clawed across the face – he was lucky not to have lost his eye at least, and much more lucky not to have lost his sight – and the scar was permanent, even the skull remained partially visible under the marks for the rest of his life.

Lindri soon grew up and left his mother, and continued to wander his home heather, but rarely left. When at one point he did leave the heather, the face of Watership Down was above him. He climbed the down out of curiosity and found Hazel’s warren above him, and spent a few days there. He did not tell where he was from and, on accound of crossing a small stream near the foot of the down, the scent of heather was washed away. He didn’t know much about the Watership rabbits but remembered what his mother told him of the warren she was from and feared they may attempt to get at the heather. He enjoyed his time on the down nonetheless and found he rather liked Vilthuril himself, but she seemed by far too dedicated to Fiver for Lindrithray to ever consider taking her.

When Lindri made his way back to the heather, he met a group of hlessil like himself – one was a very small buck called Gentian who seemed to be fighting very hard to gain leadership. It didn’t take long for Lindri to see what the small Britannia petite was capable of and he immediately took Gentian’s side. He helped Gentian to gain his position as leader of the hlessi group, and Lindri made no movement to overtake him – instead, Lindrithray helped to make the rabbits feel at home in the heather.

When things went bad and Lindri and Rush went out of their way to try and get Gentian to take control of his warren, Lindri was on the patrol to the down and fed with the rabbits on the face of the hill with them once or twice. They didn’t remember him well, and he only vaguely remembered them.

When Gentian returned and grew obsessed with one of the Watership does, Lindri was uncomfortable with it. All the same, he could hardly withdraw his support from the Chief, unless he would let the warren devolve to chaos. He chose to continue his support of Gentian, and refused to let anyone else try to take the warren from him.
